Good to know: what are they drinking from?

Table etiquette is an unimaginably interesting, yet unusually complex thing. If you look at the table, served according to all the necessary canons, your eyes will run wide already at the stage of looking at all kinds of devices, what can we say about a variety of glasses, glasses, wine glasses. Let's talk about what they drink from all the rules of etiquette.

At home, this, of course, is not relevant for everyone - most often we get by with a set of glass, glass, glass. But sometimes it happens that in the long term a visit to an official event, be it a corporate party, a business lunch in a restaurant, a reception on the occasion of important guests or someone else's wedding. But in these cases, to know about which glasses for which drinks are intended will not be out of place.

what they drink from
In everyday life, three types of containers for drinking are most often found: glasses, wine glasses and wineglasses.

- Glasses are thin-walled vessels for drinks. They can be for champagne (such a glass of elongated conical shape or looks like a cream bowl), for fruit and berry juices, cocktails based on fruits and milk, as well as for wine and beer.

- Wine glasses are glass utensils used for water or fruit drinks. They look like a glass on a high leg.

- Glasses - glasses on a low leg of small volume, designed for strong alcoholic drinks (vodka, madeira, cognac, raine wine, liquors). Also under this category are containers for cocktails or spirits without legs, which are called stack or shot.

what glasses for what drinks
So what do they drink from? Wine, like champagne, is undoubtedly drunk from glasses. Moreover, for different types of wine the shape of the glasses will vary. It should also be remembered that in a glass, white wine is poured into 2/3 of the volume, and red - only to 1/3. And it would be a very gross mistake to drink wine from narrow champagne glasses.

For beer, three types of utensils are used equally : glasses, mugs and glasses. What is the difference? The easiest way to understand what they are drinking from in this case is to remember that the mug is a male container for draft draft beer. Ladies drink beer from glasses, and glasses are not intended for draft beer, but for bottled beer.

Glasses and glasses for non-alcoholic cocktails and water can be of various shapes. If the glass is on a leg, it usually has a straight shape and a volume of 200 milliliters. A glass without a leg can expand slightly upward or can have a straight, high shape (such glasses are called highball and are often used to serve cocktails or other soft drinks).

brandy glasses
For hot alcoholic drinks such as grog, pear or mulled wine, as well as for alcoholic cocktails based on tea or coffee, special glass bowls with handles are used.

In the case of glasses, what they drink from is quite understandable. For different alcoholic beverages, they vary in shape. Glasses for cognac, for example, have a clear pear shape and a volume of 25 to 125 milliliters. Depending on the context, cognac is served in small or large forms - moreover, large brandy is intended for a long โ€œrefreshmentโ€ of a drink during a conversation or a game of cards. Cognac is poured into it for 1/4 of the volume, no more.

Glasses for vodka can be either on legs or in piles of various shapes. Smooth cylindrical shots without a leg, but with a handle, up to 100 milliliters, are usually used for cocktails. Whiskey is most often served in special glasses with a thick bottom of a straight form. But liquor glasses always have a small leg, but differ in very intricate shapes.
