Memory problems can cause many troubles not only in the elderly, but also in adolescence or even childhood. Such problems are quite capable of knocking a person out of the usual rut, disrupting his interaction with society, and also entail other unpleasant consequences. No one is safe from diseases that affect the brain, as they can happen due to accidental injury, an infection, or their cause may be hidden at the gene level. Everyone sooner or later may manifest multiple sclerosis. Its causes are various, and the consequences are very serious.
What is multiple sclerosis ?
There is very little good in this disease. It is worth noting immediately that it does not at all look like an ordinary senile memory loss. Multiple sclerosis is an autoimmune disease from which, for the most part, it is young people who suffer.
Of course, it can completely destroy a personβs life and even cause his death.
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis
In about forty percent of all cases, leg pain appears, which develops into serious disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Multiple sclerosis, the causes and signs of which are considered here, at the first stages of its development can be diagnosed by muscle weakness, poor coordination of movements. In twenty percent of all cases, vision deteriorates, urination is difficult, and sexual functions begin to work worse. It is also worth noting that a person gets tired too quickly, and over time, his intellect weakens, and the ability to think logically disappears. A man forgets what happened to him some time ago, ceases to navigate in space, he is tormented by constant pain, convulsions. Often patients only with difficulty can understand what is happening around.
This disease is considered unpredictable. It can constantly progress or be benign, increase and decrease completely arbitrarily and unpredictably. This unpredictability does not hide anything good in itself, since it is it that becomes the reason that the treatment is very, very difficult to choose.
As mentioned above, young people mainly suffer from multiple sclerosis. Age in this case plays absolutely no role. Multiple sclerosis in children can often be observed.
Multiple Sclerosis: Causes
The nerve fibers of the brain are very complex. They consist of many elements, including the outer myelin sheath. Sometimes its damage leads to the fact that the nervous tissue becomes vulnerable and even degenerates into the connective, while losing its basic functions. The emerging foci of this phenomenon are called sclerotic plaques, and sclerosis is called this phenomenon itself.
As a rule, multiple sclerosis appears in the white matter of the spinal cord as well as the brain. The word "scattered" is used in this case not by chance - sclerotic plaques are always randomly located, that is, scattered. At times, these plaques can combine into fairly large formations (up to several centimeters). It is customary to separate chronic and active plaques. Plaques fade over time, but there is no guarantee that they will not be reborn again. It is not difficult to guess that the work of the nervous system with the advent of their new and the revival of old units only worsens.
No one can be sure that he does not face multiple sclerosis. The causes of its occurrence still cause a lot of controversy: some say that this is genetics, others claim that the infection is to blame. There is no consensus here yet.
