Sarik Andreasyan is a Russian director, screenwriter and producer of Armenian descent. The director and producer of dozens of domestic and foreign films, the founder of the movie company Enjoy Movies, is best known for his comedic works.
Studying and starting a career
Sarik Andreasyan was born on August 24, 1984 in the capital of Armenia - in Yerevan. After 3 years, the family moved to Kazakhstan, and more specifically to the city of Kostanay. In 2001, he began studying at the Faculty of Journalism, at the same time he began to play in KVN and received his first experience in creative activity. After moving to Moscow, he entered the "Studio of Yuri Grymov." He graduated from the directorial course and began filming commercials and video clips.
In 2006, Sarik Andreasyan began work on a thriller in his own script called "45 centimeters." The work was stopped several times due to lack of funding, and as a result, the picture was never completed. At the same time, the young director works on television and makes many useful acquaintances with famous comedians.
Director's work
In 2009, the debut directorial work of Sarik Andreasyan "Burdocks" was released. A comedy with famous KVN participants in the lead roles with a budget of one million dollars earned in cinemas as much as five, having paid off several times.
Thanks to this financial success, Andreasyan receives an offer to direct a remake of the classic Soviet comedy "Office Romance". As a result, the film received devastating reviews from critics, but with a budget of $ 5 million, it collected about fifteen at the box office.
At the same time, Sarik, with his brother Ghevond and acquaintance producer Georgi Malkov, founded his own production company Enjoy Movies. The first work of the director, released under the auspices of the company, is the film "Pregnant". The picture largely repeats the plot of the comedy "Juneau", for which it was subjected to fierce criticism. However, the box office was again above all expectations.
The most favorably received by critics of the work of Sarik Andreasyan is the collection of movie novels “Moms” and “Happy New Year, Moms!”, Which he produced and became the author of several short stories.
After the comedies "That Still Carloson!" and "What Men Do," the founders of Enjoy Movies decide to create an international production company to enter the global market. As part of this campaign, Sarik Andreasyan puts on his first English-language film - the crime action movie "American Robbery." Starring Oscar winner Adrian Brody and Star Wars star Hayden Christensen. Nevertheless, the film shows itself poorly at the box office and receives crushing reviews from critics.
Sarik Andreasyan returns to Russian-language paintings and begins to engage in more serious films.
