Dumplings with sauerkraut

Dumplings - a dish, no doubt, a popular one. It is prepared in every house with different intervals. It is especially pleasing that they can be made with any filling, from cherries to potatoes with liver. This dish came from Ukrainian cuisine, but, nevertheless, gained popularity in many countries.

Dumplings are usually made from unleavened dough, that is, without the use of yeast. They can be completely different shapes: triangular, semicircular and even rectangular. Boil them in salted water for five to seven minutes over moderate heat. When dumplings float to the surface, it means that they are ready. Before serving, they are usually greased with butter. If you cook dumplings with cherries or other berries, then they need to be cooled before offering to households.

Dumplings with sauerkraut - an atypical dish for an average family. Usually they are cooked with potatoes, berries or any other filling. But if you have not tried dumplings with sauerkraut, you have lost a lot in your life. They have an unusual taste, but they will certainly become your favorite dish. Moreover, sauerkraut has many positive properties that are beneficial for the body. It is rich in vitamin C, folic acid and other substances. Its use entails an increase in immunity, helps to prevent the occurrence of peptic ulcer disease, helps strengthen blood vessels and so on. Thus, it becomes clear that you must know the answer to the question of how to cook dumplings with sauerkraut.

Here is one of the recipes. You will need sauerkraut - a liter jar, one onion, sunflower oil, salt, water, flour and ground pepper. Start by preparing the toppings. You must squeeze the cabbage well to remove excess fluid from it. After that, boil it in boiling water for about five minutes, but not more. Meanwhile, chop the onion finely and spasser it in a skillet over high heat until it turns golden. Then, onions must be laid cabbage, strained from the water. All this is fried until the liquid evaporates from the pan. In the process, you can add ground black pepper and salt the cabbage with onions.

Now do the test. It is done elementarily. You just need to add two glasses of ice water and a teaspoon of salt in one kilogram of flour. All this is thoroughly kneaded and left in a cool place for half an hour. Next you need to form the dumplings. Everyone knows how to do it. Just roll out the dough with a thick "sausage", cut it into pieces and each roll out into a circle. Put the filling in the center and pinch the edges. Put boiling water in advance, salt it, only after boiling can you put the dumplings in the pan, they immediately need to be stirred, otherwise they will sink to the bottom. After the dumplings come up, cook them for about another minute. Your delicious dish is ready. Serve dumplings with sauerkraut with sour cream or mayonnaise.

Dumplings with sauerkraut and mushrooms are also very original. Such a dish is sure to surprise you. You will need 800 grams of cabbage, two dried mushrooms, 100 grams of cream margarine, one onion, 100 grams of lard and salt and pepper. Mushrooms must first be soaked in cold water for about a couple of hours. Then boil them in the same liquid and cut into small pieces. Squeeze the cabbage, chop, simmer with fat and a little water, and then adding mushroom broth. Then the cabbage is mixed with mushrooms and onions, pepper and salt are added there. The dough can be made according to the previous recipe. Cook the dumplings with sauerkraut as usual. Before serving, pour them with melted fat. Enjoy your meal.
