Spanish dishes are always distinguished by their originality. This is especially true for cold and hot snacks. Take, for example, the famous Catalan omelet. With all the unusualness of this dish, you can cook it in different ways.
Classic version
This Catalan omelet is a roll of baked egg mass with a complex filling. Usually it is cooked in a pan. According to a standard recipe, the following products are required for work: 3 raw eggs, butter, 40 grams of milk, fresh tomatoes, ham, salt, hard cheese and ground black pepper.
Catalan omelet is prepared very simply:
- Gently chop the tomatoes with ham into small cubes, and grind the cheese using a regular coarse grater.
- Beat eggs thoroughly with salt. To make the mass more fragrant, it can be a little pepper.
- Heat oil well in a pan.
- Pour 2/3 of the beaten egg mass onto it.
- Spread chopped ingredients for filling on top.
- As soon as the mass begins to brown, it must be rolled up to half and slightly pushed to the edge of the pan.
- Pour the rest of the egg mixture into the free space.
- Turn the finished omelet into the tube until the end. After that, you need to immediately put it on a plate to avoid overdrying.
It turns out an amazing Catalan omelet, which is better to eat hot. Although cold, it is also quite tasty.
Original filling
Everyone has their own eating habits. Therefore, mushroom lovers can make their own original Catalan omelet in their own way. The recipe will essentially remain the same. Only the composition of the complex filling will change. The following ingredients will be needed for work: 6 eggs, 3 tomatoes, onions, 100 grams of fresh champignons, 1 pod of bell pepper, 4 cloves of garlic, 40 grams of carbonated mineral water, salt, 1 lemon, 17 grams of vegetable oil, black pepper and parsley.
Stages of cooking omelet:
- Pour the tomatoes with boiling water. After that, they must be removed from the skin, and the flesh carefully cut into cubes.
- Grind the mushrooms into thin slices.
- Chop pepper and onion finely.
- In a pan, first heat the oil, and then fry the mushrooms with onions in it.
- Add bell peppers and warm foods together for a couple of minutes.
- Introduce the remaining ingredients. At the same time, only juice and zest are needed from the lemon. The mixture should simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Beat eggs with mineral water and fry the mixture in another pan.
- As soon as the mass begins to bake, put in the center a pre-cooked filling.
- Gently wrap the edges.
Serve the finished omelet to the table, sprinkling it abundantly with fresh chopped herbs.
Non-standard option
Using additional devices and a non-standard technique, you can make Catalan omelet in 5 minutes. True, in this case, it will not be fried, but cooked. For such a recipe, the following necessary components will be required: 2 eggs, 1 tablespoon of chopped onions and bell pepper, 30 grams of tomato sauce, salt, 2 tablespoons of carefully chopped tomatoes and fresh champignons, 2 slices of ham, ½ cups of grated cheese, ground pepper and spices.
Cooking technology:
- For work, you need a plastic bag with a tight clasp. First, fresh eggs should be placed in it. First they need to be broken into a plate and slightly beat with a fork.
- Pour the rest of the ingredients (except the sauce).
- Fasten the bag and dip it into a pot of boiling water.
- The mixture should cook for about 3-5 minutes.
After this, the finished mass must be carefully removed from the bag and put on a plate. Pour the omelet with sauce, and for the aroma you can also sprinkle it with fresh herbs.
