The drug "Tavanic". Instruction manual

Tavanic (analogue - elefox or floracid) includes levofloxacin. The drug is available in tablet form, in the form of a solution for infusion. Tavanic instructions characterize as a synthetic antibacterial agent with a wide range of effects. The medication belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones.

After oral administration (inside) , levofloxacin is absorbed almost completely and quickly enough. Eating has little effect on the completeness and rate of absorption. The component penetrates into tissues and organs (lungs, sputum, bronchial mucosa, bone tissue, prostate gland, cerebrospinal fluid , etc.) quite well.

A small amount of the active substance is deacylated or oxidized. Excretion is mainly carried out by the kidneys. After taking the tablet form of the drug for forty-eight hours, about 87% of the accepted dosage is excreted in the urine unchanged with urine. Seventy-two hours later, less than 4% was found in feces. After intravenous administration, excretion mainly occurs with urine unchanged.

Levofloxacin is active against most microorganisms (anaerobic, gram-positive, gram-negative).

The tavanic instruction does not recommend use by adolescents and children due to the risk of developing cartilage lesions in the joints. When prescribing the drug to elderly patients, it is necessary to take into account the likelihood of kidney disorders.

Tavanic may not have optimal therapeutic efficacy in pneumonia of high severity caused by pneumococci. Combination therapy may be required for hospital infections provoked by some pathogens.

In patients who previously had brain damage associated with a serious injury or stroke, tavanic can trigger seizures. The likelihood of developing convulsive conditions increases with the combined use of fenbufen, as well as similar NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or theophylline.

The use of the drug can cause numbness, dizziness, and visual disturbance. Tavanic and alcohol in combination provoke the development of these adverse reactions to a more pronounced degree.

Caution is prescribed in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Tavanic. Instructions: indications

The drug is prescribed for community-acquired pneumonia, prostatitis, complicated infections of the urinary tract and kidneys (including pyelonephritis), intra-abdominal infection, bacteremia (septicemia) associated with these pathologies.
