The original script of the film did not suit the director. He wanted the theme of the new picture as little as possible reminiscent of a series of "Aliens." So he invited Damon Lindelof, screenwriter for Lost.
Filming

They also believe that alien beings gave life to all living things in our world. Peter Weiland, the head of a powerful corporation, organizes a space expedition to the planet of the Creators. The research ship Prometheus arrives at LV-223, an alien base.
Scientists discover an ancient structure here and explore one of them. Inside, crew members find the remains of huge humanoid creatures. An activated hologram shows that they were running away from some kind of danger. In one of the rooms, scientists discovered many cylinders filled with black liquid. Android David secretly picks up one tank. On a ship, he mixes liquid from an alien cylinder into a Holloway glass, and he drinks it.
Lost in a huge structure, two crew members are attacked by snake-like creatures that mutated from local worms due to black liquid from the cylinders. While scientists are looking for missing comrades, David finds a control room. The construction turns out to be a giant spaceship with a cargo of containers. Android finds out that the ship's final destination was Earth. In one of the cryocapsules he finds the living Creator.
“Prometheus” - a prequel to “Alien”?
Back in 2002, Scott planned to make a film that would reveal to the audience the secret of the appearance of the Alien race. In the first part of the series, the Nostromo towing vehicle finds an alien ship whose crew died in a battle with xenomorphs. It was logical to assume that the filmmakers show the history of this ship. But in 2009, Ridley Scott said he had redefined the concept of the painting. He abandoned the idea of ​​a prequel and decided that Prometheus (reviews of the film can be seen below) will be an independent picture. However, he left a connection with the universe of Aliens and revealed, as promised earlier, the secret of their origin.
Actors and roles
Interestingly, in one of the main roles in the film, Ridley Scott wanted to see Leonardo DiCaprio. He even postponed the shooting for the actor, but then he still abandoned this idea. But even without DiCaprio, the cast of Prometheus is not bad.
