The famous Mexican director Carlos Reigadas made some strange films, mainly aimed at lovers of auteur cinema, where studio shootings are practically not used and non-professional actors play. In one of them, Anapola Mushkadiz starred in the main female role.
"Crime and Punishment" in Mexican
The plot of the Mexican rethinking of "Crime and Punishment" is based on the Mexican crime chronicle. The picture "Battle in Heaven" participated in the main competition of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival. The main character Marcos - the driver of the general, a middle-aged obese man - together with his wife, an unattractive fat woman, steals a newborn child in order to obtain a ransom. However, the child is dying.
Anapola Mushkadiz plays the generalβs daughter Anu, who is driven by Marcos, who knows almost everything about her, even about the carefully hidden voluntary practice of prostitution. He decides to tell Ana about everything, and she advises to surrender to the authorities.
There are many almost pornographic scenes in the picture; the director says that he does not persuade anyone, he just talks for a long time with everyone. Anapola, which has the only attractive character in the picture, had to act in film nude in many scenes. The film begins with a close-up, where his heroine, a young pretty girl, has oral sex with a loose swarthy partner.
Further career
Like all the films of Carlos Reigadas, the picture received excellent reviews from critics and conflicting from the audience, who for the most part drew attention to the directorial search, since the game of non-professional actors was somehow not discussed.
However, Anapola Mushkadiz was noticed, and she starred in two more arthouse low-budget films - "Hate" in 2006 and "Love Stories" in 2007. All that is known about the girl is that she is a resident of Mexico City, works as an art designer.
