Mullet fish soup is a delicious first course that can be consumed even by children. The fish has a delicate flesh, but it does not have many bones. The classic recipe for fish soup
Before proceeding with the preparation of rich and fragrant soup, check the availability of the necessary products for this.
List of ingredients:
- one or two fish;
- two large potatoes;
- onion, white;
- laurel leaf;
- salt - according to personal preference;
- black pepper - optional;
- in season, you can add herbs suitable to the ear of mullet: dill, feathers of green onions;
- seasoning for fish dishes is allowed (if desired).
Mullet Processing
We wash fresh fish. Remove the scales from the surface of the carcass. We take out the internal parts and carefully wash the fish’s abdomen under running cold water.
We divide the prepared mullet into suitable pieces, cutting across and removing the head. We’ll leave the dishes with fish ready for cooking and take care of the remaining components of the future fish soup.
A method of preparing a mullet soup at home
We wash the potatoes in cold water. We remove the peel from the surface of root crops. Rinse again and cut with medium cubes. Pour the finished potato cubes with a sufficient amount of water in the pan and send the dishes to the heated stove. While the potatoes are boiling, prepare the onions and seasonings.
The bulb is freed from the husks and upper layers. Cut the ends on both sides. You can cut onions as you like best. Some prefer large half rings in the finished ear, while others, on the contrary, are not happy if the onion is so clearly visible in the soup.
If there is dill in your recipe for mullet fish soup, wash it and, shaking off excess liquid, finely chop it. It is permissible to introduce dry dill into the recipe.
The potatoes boiled. Remove the formed flakes from the surface of the broth. We put the fish in a pan. Boil for ten minutes with moderate boiling and salt. Pour onion. We introduce bay leaf, spices for fish, ground pepper. Cook the mullet ear for another ten minutes.

Cook in a slow cooker

And here are the necessary products:
- mullet - about a pound of finished, peeled fish, cut into medium pieces;
- potatoes - 4 pieces;
- carrot - one large;
- onions - 1 head of medium diameter;
- a bunch of greens suitable for fish soup;
- a pair of laurel leaves;
- vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons;
- salt to taste;
- ground black pepper to taste.
How to cook
Working with a slow cooker is quick and easy:
- We process mullet, as described above in the article: mine is freed from everything inedible.
- I also wash the vegetables and get rid of the peel and other unnecessary elements on them.
- Grind carrots and onions as we wish. Send them to the bowl, after pouring vegetable oil into it.
- We turn on the program "Frying" for literally five minutes, so that the carrots and onions become slightly golden.
- After a while, turn off the device and, opening the lid, cut the potatoes. Fill it with hot water - 2 liters.
- We send here both mullet and bay leaf.
- Add salt. We put the “Soup” program for 30 minutes. When the slow cooker makes characteristic sounds, we will season the resulting ear with greens and pepper. We’ll cover the lid. Wait another five minutes and pour the fragrant ear on the plates.
