Festivals

The musical collective of the Philharmonic of the city of Kostroma regularly travels as a whole to various festivals dedicated to classical, academic and jazz music. The orchestra not only demonstrates the highest level of performing art, but also often takes prizes in various competitions and festivals.

The Philharmonic society performs not only in specially equipped halls, but also in open areas, which distinguishes it from many other symphonic ensembles.

The collective leaves for many festivals not as a participant, but as a guest orchestra. Such regular trips became for musicians visiting the final stages of the All-Russian Choir Festival, where the Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied the winners.

The Philharmonic Hall itself annually hosts the participants of the Zharovsky Singing Assemblies festival.

Contests

Every year, the administration of the Philharmonic holds a series of competitions dedicated to the identification of young talents among musicians.

Young talents

Such competitions are:

  • "Young talents of Russia" - a competition among folk music performers.
  • International Competition for Young Conductors of Symphony Orchestras I.A. Musina.

Winners and prize-winners of these music competitions get the opportunity to study for free in the best music academies and schools of Russia, however, as time shows, most of the laureates remain to study and work in their native city, becoming the property of the Kostroma Philharmonic. Such outstanding personalities include Elena Sanzharevskaya, Tatyana Sagin, Antonina Lebedev, Vladimir Volkov and many other artists.

Projects

The Philharmonic of the Kostroma region boasts a large number of its own projects created both with the support of the regional administration and on the personal initiative of the institution’s employees.

Such projects are notable for their large scale and, as a rule, are not held within the walls of the Philharmonic. One of such striking and unique projects was a grandiose production called “Russian National Patriotic Opera on Kostroma Land”, staged by musicians with the support of the Ipatiev Monastery, which allowed a costumed event to be held within its walls. The project is a large-scale costume performance, sustained in the style of ancient Russian epics and legends.

Patriotic staging

The second major project of the Kostroma Philharmonic was the seasonal summer flash mob “Music in the open air”, traditionally held by the full musical composition of the philharmonic in mid-summer. The project consists of several open-air musical evenings, during which classical jazz music and light dance tunes of the last century are performed. For children, “Music in the open air” is remembered for vivid theatrical productions of various musicals and fairy tales.

Musical evenings

Halls

There are three music halls in the Kostroma Philharmonic. Each of which has its own specifics and is designed for special musical events.

In the large hall of the Philharmonic Hall concerts of famous musicians, ensembles, as well as author's performances by soloists of various institutions are held. The Russian Style ensemble of Russian folk instruments, soloists Vladimir Volkov and Anatoly Yarovoy, opera singers Antonina Lebedeva and Tatyana Sagina held their concerts here.

Orchestra and conductor

The chamber and organ music hall is designed only for the performance of organist masters, as well as for performances by groups performing medieval academic music on ancient wind instruments. It was here that such masters of organ sound as Werner Jacob, Alexander Zheludkov, Harry Grodberg and many others came with concerts.

Literary and musical evenings that do not require a large number of instruments, as well as relatively small timing, are usually held in the main living room. Also, the living room is used for author's and poetry evenings, benefit performances or public readings of various works. There are meetings with famous authors: writers, poets, musicians ...

Programs

The Kostroma State Philharmonic Society has been working closely with the Ministry of Education and for many years has successfully shown a series of educational music programs, the subjects of which range from studying and analyzing iconic works of Russian classics to teaching viewers the basics of musical theory.

The training programs include such performances as “Onegin is my good friend ...”, “The house where the music lives”, “Lived man scattered”, “My dear, good”, “Living corner” and many others.

Orchestra of folk instruments

Cultural and leisure programs presented by the Kostroma Regional Philharmonic Society introduce everyone to the culture of jazz and pop music. Events such as "Idols of Variety", "We Together with You", "Journey to the Planet Jazz", "Invitation to the Holiday" will not leave indifferent any connoisseur of beautiful music.

In addition to educational and entertainment programs, the Philharmonic leadership pays great attention to the cultural and patriotic education of the younger generation.

Programs such as “We can’t forget these roads ...”, “Military songs are human destinies”, “Songs singed by war”, “May Waltz”, “From the heroes of bygone days” are designed to show schoolchildren and students the strength and courage of the defenders of the Motherland, the unwavering firmness of their spirit.

All programs are unique in content, as they were developed taking into account the creative characteristics of soloists and musicians of the philharmonic. Sometimes guests of the program become famous creative personalities, whose tours also take place in Kostroma.

Season tickets

A good tradition of the Kostroma Philharmonic has been the provision of annual subscriptions to regular listeners. Typically, the administration of the institution prepares for each season:

  • 18 season tickets, each of which includes the opportunity to visit more than sixty unique concert programs;
