In the modern world, there is hardly a person who has never heard of Star Wars, the cult science fiction epic directed by George Lucas.
The first film of the legendary saga about the adventures of the Jedi Knights, called "Star Wars. Episode IV. New Hope โ, released in 1977. At the moment, the franchise includes 10 movies, several cartoons, books, comics and video games for computers and consoles.
The Star Wars universe is huge - film events take place on dozens of planets and span almost a hundred years. In the center of the global plot is the confrontation between the Light and Dark sides. The weapons and equipment from Star Wars that are used to wage this war are of particular interest to fans of the saga. And some fixtures, such as a lightsaber, have become an unofficial symbol of the franchise.
Droids
According to the official definition, a droid is a mechanical and / or electronic design designed to promote organic forms of life. In other words, droids are robots that have artificial intelligence and are used by the inhabitants of the galaxy in various fields, ranging from medicine to astromechanics.
This is an extensive form of technology from Star Wars, dividing into five ordinal classes. The class to which the droid belongs determines its sphere of activity. For example, first-class robots have the most complex thinking, which is why they are often used in medicine, mathematics, physics, and other similar sciences. The droids of the last class are absolutely primitive in comparison with them and are capable of performing only monotonous routine work.
This type of technology from Star Wars is used by both the Republic and the Empire. For example, one of the most famous droids of the original trilogy is R2-D2, which once belonged to the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi and helped the Rebel Alliance in the operation to destroy the Death Star.
Walkers
As the name implies, walkers are military vehicles equipped with supports that allow them to move around the surface with peculiar steps.
Somehow, representatives of this type of technology from Star Wars resemble giant animals. It was in this way that the engineers of the Galactic Empire were inspired when creating drawings of walkers.
Walkers make up most of the Empireโs Star Wars equipment, the army of which is equipped with AT-AT series combat vehicles. Despite their slowness, walkers are often used as a vehicle for soldiers. Low maneuverability and speed of movement are successfully compensated by high-quality armor.
This type of technique is very accurately characterized by the saying that is popular among the representatives of the Resistance Alliance: "A walker will crush you before you notice it."
Star ships
Star ships, also called spaceships or starships, are transport ships used to navigate the galaxy.
One of the key elements of each spaceship is the hyperdrive, which allows the ship to travel vast distances in a short period of time. Without hyper acceleration, moving from one star system to another would take several times more time.
Starships are used both by the civilian population of the galaxy and by the military. For example, one of the most famous models of star ships is the T-65 X-Wing fighter or the "Cross-wing". Using this type of technology from Star Wars, the Republic destroyed the imperial Death Star when Luke Skywalker fired his final shot and, using the Force, sent torpedoes directly to the stationโs reactor.
Another spaceship featured in the original trilogy is The Millennium Falcon. This is a light cargo ship, one of the owners of which was Han Solo.
Tanks
In addition to walkers, tanks are also part of the ground forces of the Republic and the Empire. Most often they were used as support forces or in order to break through the defenses of the enemy side.
During the Clone Wars in Star Wars, Republic equipment was introduced in the TX-130 series. These combat vehicles were successfully used for counterattacks by imperial walkers, being much faster and more maneuverable.
With the help of TX-130 tanks, Republicans also patrolled the perimeter of the territory, conducted reconnaissance operations and carried out quick attacks.
