Sugar Cranberries: Healthy Recipes

Admit how often do you eat cranberries? Most likely not very. But for fans of a healthy lifestyle, this berry would be a real panacea. The vitamins contained in cranberries act on the body much more effectively than vitamins in tablets. Cranberries are especially useful for children. After all, it is much better to eat a natural vitamin created by nature than that made in a chemical laboratory.

Infectious diseases, inflammation, stomach diseases, genitourinary infections, problems with gums - all this and much more can prevent a small cranberry berry. The recipes that include this useful “acidic swamp ball” are very diverse. In addition, cranberries have the unique ability to persist for a very long time, since the benzoic acid contained in it is a real preservative of natural origin. Therefore, even pure frozen cranberries retain their beneficial qualities.

From these berries, you can independently make such a delicacy as cranberries in powdered sugar. It is done very quickly and easily. For 50-100 grams of berries you will need two raw egg whites, 200 grams of icing sugar and one tablespoon of vanilla or lemon juice. Rinse the hook well and let it dry a little. Beat whites with powdered sugar, add vanilla or lemon juice. Berries one at a time immersed in a protein-sugar mixture and spread on parchment for drying. It is better to dry the berries, laying them out in one layer, but not a bunch.

You can make a harvest for the winter, such cranberries in sugar will always come in handy. The recipe is as follows: one kilogram of berries will need 1.6-1.7 kilograms of sugar. We take a glass jar (or several, depending on size) and begin to fill it with cranberries, pouring sugar over it layer by layer. When you reach the “shoulders” of the can, make the final sugar filling, close the can tightly with a lid and put it in a cold place.

There is another option, as harvested cranberries in store. The recipes are similar to the previous one in that the amounts of sugar and berries are identical, but the method of preparation is slightly different. In this case, cranberries are chopped well with a wooden pestle or scrolled in a meat grinder. After that, the resulting mass is mixed with sugar and placed in jars. From above, again, we fill everything with sugar, close it with a lid - and in a dark, cold place.

You can also make fruit drinks, the main component of which is cranberries. Each fruit drink has its own recipes , but for an example we’ll give one like this: rinse one kilogram of berries in running water, then pour them into a colander and immerse them in boiling water for 3-4 minutes. After this, the berries are rubbed with a wooden spoon through a sieve and mixed with a liter of boiled hot water and a glass of sugar. The resulting fruit drink is poured into bottles and, after it has cooled sufficiently, is placed in the refrigerator. In the future, it can be consumed in its pure form, one glass 3-4 times a day, and can be diluted with boiled water, getting a sort of fortified drink. Also, this fruit drink can be added to tea a little.

Here it is so useful, cranberries. Our great-grandmothers knew and appreciated the recipes with this berry. For example, when coughing, they used cranberry juice, which was mixed with honey, and they lowered the temperature, but diluted with water. Cranberry juice, mixed in equal proportions with the juices of pomegranate, apple, lemon, carrot and beetroot, with the addition of 50 grams of honey, is used to increase hemoglobin in the blood.

But in some cases, cranberries should not be consumed. If you have a stomach ulcer, gastritis, a disease of the duodenum, high acidity, cranberries can only aggravate the situation. Also, excessive consumption of cranberries or juice from it can spoil the tooth enamel, so try to rinse your mouth well with water after eating these berries.
