In 2008, the sci-fi movie "Teleport" was released on the screens of cinemas. The actors in it played quite well-known, but the interest in the picture was most likely due to the fact that the director of such Hollywood hits as "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Bourne Identification" shot it. Who played in the next film of Doug Laimon and how did the film critics meet?
Teleport: A Short Story
The scenario of āTeleportā was created on the basis of the famous novel of the same name in America by writer Stephen Gould. The actors of the Teleport movie were supposed to tell the viewer a typical fantastic story about how a loser guy from a dysfunctional area wakes up one morning and realizes that he is special. In this case, a certain David Rice performed by Hayden Christensen discovers that he can teleport to anywhere in the world wherever he wishes.
Rice's life is changing rapidly: first he goes on a trip around the world, and then he finds a way to get himself using teleportation and money. However, David Rice's gift is a hindrance for the ābadā guys. The Paladin Society prefers to get rid of people like Rice, so the guy will soon be hunting.
The film was commercially successful: with a budget of $ 85 million, the filmmakers managed to earn 224 million at the box office.
The creators of the movie "Teleport"
The picture was released under the auspices of the film company 20 th Century Fox.
The film "Teleport", actors, roles, whose characters so captivated the audience, was shot by American director Doug Lyman. Doug is known to the public for the acclaimed action movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," as well as a series of films about the CIA agent Jason Bourne.
The film was produced by Simon Kinberg, who subsequently oversaw such famous films as X-Men: First Class, Elysium: Paradise Not on Earth, X-Men: Days of the Past Future.
David Goyer, who also wrote the scripts for the projects āRaven-2: City of Angelsā, āBladeā, āBatman: The Beginningā, was involved in creating the script based on the book by Stephen Gould.
A well-known cameraman worked behind the camera, the filmography of which includes the paintings āWe Are the Millersā with Jennifer Aniston and āThe Model Maleā with Ben Stiller.
Unfortunately, when creating the picture "Teleport" there were many accidents. One of them was fatal: on the set in Toronto, one of the decorators was crushed by a block of descended soil. Also in the process of working on the film, multiple injuries were received by the lead actor - Hayden Christensen.
The Teleport movie: actors and roles. Hayden Christensen
Initially, Christensen was not supposed to take part in the project. In the film "Teleport" the actors were carefully selected by the director himself - Doug Lymon, and he predicted the main role to the British actor Tom Sturridge. However, the success of the picture largely determines the fame of the actor playing the main character, and Sturridge had not played a single more or less noticeable role at that time, so the producers demanded to find a more famous person for the role of David Rice. And Doug Lyman offered it to Hayden Christensen.

Hayden is known to many viewers for the role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: the actor played this character in the second and third episodes of the star movie saga. The character liked the character of David Rice, but the shooting in the picture turned out to be an endless series of injuries: he first rinsed his hand out, then received a severe ear injury during the filming of the fight with the character of Samuel L. Jackson. Christensenās troubles didnāt end there: after a while, Hayden significantly expanded one of the pupils as a result of the use of special eye drops, which had to be used before shooting.
Teleport: actors and roles. Jamie Bell
Jamie Bell, who also took part in the filming of the film, is an English actor. He played in the film the role of Griffin - the antipode of the protagonist Jason. But these two characters are united by the fact that they are fighting against the same clan of paladins.
"Teleport", the actors in which gathered quite famous, for Jamie Bell became the tenth movie work. In 2000, the guy made his debut in the drama "Billy Eliot", and immediately in the title role. Then Jamie Bell, along with Kristen Stewart, played in the drama "Underwater Current" (the main role) and was awarded the best "Young Actor".
In 2005, Jamie starred in the movie "King Kong" with such Hollywood celebrities as Naomi Watts and Adrien Brody. In 2015, the actor was very lucky: he received one of the main roles in the film "Fantastic Four", filmed by the Marvel film company. In the fantastic action movie, Bell appeared in the image of Ben Grimm.
Samuel L. Jackson as Roland
Samuel L. Jackson played the leader of the Secret Paladin Society in the movie Teleport. Actors Samuel L. Jackson and Hayden Christensen met on the same stage for the third time. The first two times happened on the set of the second and third episodes of Star Wars.
However, in Teleport, the characters of Christensen and Jackson are on opposite sides of the barricades. The goal of Roland in the performance of a black Hollywood actor is to destroy the character of Hayden Christensen. According to the plot of the film, they have to engage in battle more than once.
During a break between the last shootings of Star Wars and Teleport, L. Jackson managed to star with Quentin Tarantino in the film āKill Bill-2ā, as well as in the film āSWAT Special Forces of the City of Angelsā. But his partner in the film "Teleport" Christensen, unfortunately, did not get into any popular film after "Star Wars".
Rachel Bilson as Millie Harris
The role of the girl of the protagonist in the film could be played by Rachel Wood ("Thirteen", "Last Raid"). However, at the last moment, it was Rachel Bilson who got into the Teleport movie.
The main actor in the frame is, of course, Hayden Christensen. Rachel played the role of his girlfriend Millie Harris, who constantly finds herself in dangerous situations and needs the help of her lover. In a word, a typical line for a fantastic action movie.
Filming in "Teleport" was not for the actress in vain - in the end, she became Christensen's wife and gave birth to his daughter. The actress can also be seen in films such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, How I Met Your Mother, and Lonely Hearts.
Diane Lane as Mary Rice
Actress Diane Lane performed in the film "Teleport" the role of the mother of the protagonist. Working with such a famous director as Doug Lyman had a good impact on Diane's career: first she got the main role in the film āNights at Rodantā, where she played in tandem with Richard Gere, and in 2013 the actress made her way into the blockbuster āMan of Steelā ā, Produced by Christopher Nolan.
Despite the fact that the actress recently celebrated her 50th anniversary, her career made a new round. In 2016, the most anticipated premiere in recent years will take place - the movie āBatman vs. Supermanā will be released, produced by Christopher Nolan and directed by Zack Snyder (300 Spartans). In the new Hollywood hit, Diane got the role of Martha Kent.
As for Mrs. Laneās film works before Teleport, she played major roles in films such as Killer, Cruel People, and Love for Dogs Is Mandatory.
Kristen Stewart as Sophie
In the film āTeleportā the actors and heroes played by them are interesting and attractive, especially for young people and teenagers. It is not surprising that Kristen Stewart, an actress who is the star of youth films, was invited to take part in the film. In āTeleportā she played Sophie - this is a supporting role.
The central role in Stuart's filmography is the image of Bella from the vampire saga Twilight. The girl began acting in a series of films about vampires at the age of 18, and finished at 22. After āTwilightā there were still worthy pictures - āSils-Mariaā, āUltra-Americansā, but they were not very popular with the audience.
Criticism and reviews
The main actors and roles of the Teleport film were widely discussed by viewers and journalists after the world premiere. Reviews on the new picture of Doug Laimon received diametrically opposite. Nevertheless, there were more positive evaluations than negative ones.
In general, observers from different publications agree that Teleport is not the crown of intellectual cinema, but rather an entertainment project. Critics praised the geographical beauties that were shown in the film, because Doug Laimon even managed to agree on filming in the Roman Coliseum, where film crews are not allowed in principle. The game of Briton Jamie Bell was highly praised and the acting abilities of Hayden Christensen were called into question.
As for the audience, they also noted that Hayden Christensen from the time of "Star Wars" "was blown away like a ball" in terms of acting. Especially annoying are the moments in which, it would seem, the hero Christensen should be beaten over the edge, and the actor instead looks around with an indifferent look. But the character of Jamie Bell - Griffin - simply captivated the audience. Also, flattering reviews sounded in favor of special effects and a scene shot in the walls of the Roman Colosseum.
More picky viewers revealed a lot of flaws in the picture. Many note that the first twenty minutes of the film, everything seems to be developing logically, but with the advent of Samuel L. Jackson on the horizon, some kind of chaos begins in the plot. The play of the actors looks strained, and the story develops contrary to all the laws of logic.
In a word, āTeleportā is a contradictory picture: in some it causes irritation, in others - interest. Many directors are simply not allowed to shoot science fiction, which is perhaps why Doug Laimon did not succeed as he planned. It does not make sense to read reviews of such films: you just need to see them at least once and make up your mind about everything you see.
