When new teams appear, it is always interesting to watch their creative development. Indeed, often the world of show business turns out to be cruel, and music trends require constant innovation. The group “Orange”, which has a rich history, will tell by its example how to achieve recognition of fans.
Find your style
This team cannot be called young. It was formed in Estonia in the mid-70s of the last century. The main feature that his fans will note will be the fact that the "Orange" is functioning to this day. Using the sound of non-traditional musical instruments, the team harmoniously combines blues, jazz, rock and roll.
The first song, as well as the debut performance on Estonian television, the group “Orange” stylized a humorous country. The musicians themselves later admitted that they regretted the chosen genre, believing that this would end their career without beginning. However, to my great surprise, the audience and listeners were delighted. This was the only factor that gave the team an incentive for many years to create something original.
Laughing at others, laugh at yourself
The first record was released in 1976. Then the group “Orange” (photo attached) leaves for a jazz festival in Tbilisi and a tour to Germany. Having gained the first recognition, the group receives an invitation to the “Blue Light” and “Saturday Night”.
Almost immediately, the team found its own unique style - a parody of “Western”. But its participants were not going to just entertain the audience. I wanted more serious things. In the early years of the 80s, “Orange” writes several compositions in a new way. At the same time, leaving humor and self-irony among the main components. At concerts, participants make a splash - spectators note their acting qualities, manifested in a variety of emotions.
Creative personalities
The group “Orange” writes its texts in Estonian, differing in an atypical manner of performance. This for a long time has become her hallmark. The existing language barrier did not play a role - in our country, the collective’s disks were sold out in large numbers.
The number of participants includes those who have been in the group for more than a decade. Throughout the creative activity, the soloists left the team, others came in their place. Each participant occupies its own niche. So, Tõnu Aare is busy in the main vocals. Jaan Arder prefers acoustic guitar and mandolin. His brother-poet Ott Arder - had a hand in writing several successful hits of the group. The remaining members - Allan Jacobi, Ants Nuut, Alexander Vilipere - play drums, trumpet, accordion and trombone.
By the way, the frontman of the collective personally came up with the name of the group. According to him, oranges are the fruit that will always be reminiscent of childhood and the New Year. Beautiful and “funny”, they are able to positively affect others.
Today and tomorrow
The team performs a lot on television. Throughout the 80s, the group “Orange” was often invited to the popular program “Around the Laughter”. The discography is replenished with several albums, one of the most successful, “Apelsin XX”, appears on the shelves in 1994. The collapse of the country is reflected in the work of the group. For a while little is heard about her, and it seems that the “Orange” has broken up. However, the team simply ceased to exist for a while. In the late 90s, he again reminds himself. Participants often go on tour, take part in various concerts in the Baltic countries. Celebrating the round anniversary, in 2004 the band released the album “Apelsin 30”.
Today the group “Orange” is all the same fervent, albeit older guys, who with their rather light songs can cheer up each listener.
