Maria Schneider was born on March 27, 1952 in the French capital - the city of Paris. Her father is the famous French actor Danielle Jelen, her mother is a model Marie-Christine Schneider, who is of German-Romanian origin. Parents did not live together for long and soon divorced. Maria was brought up by her mother until the age of fifteen. At school, Maria Schneider was engaged in painting, studied foreign languages (Greek and Latin). Also moonlighted as a fashion model.

At fifteen, the girl moved to Paris. From that moment, Maria's acting career begins. In 1969, she received her first episodic role in the movie. And a few years later, in the seventy-second year, Maria Schneider got the main role, which brought her world fame. The twenty-year-old actress starred in the dramatic film by Bernardo Bertolucci, "The Last Tango in Paris." Her colleague on the set was an American actor Marlon Brando.
Marlon and Maria became very friends. The actress herself is very grateful for the invaluable acting experience that she adopted from Brando.
