Sergey Scheglov: an alloy of fantasy and fiction

If you look at the reviews of readers, then Sergey Shcheglov seems to be such a strong middle peasant in the writing environment. He never had and, probably, will not have the title of master of domestic fiction, like Lukyanenko, Belyanin or Perumov, but he has his own target audience, which considers his works worthy of attention.

About style

The books of this author are light, entertaining and are a fusion of classic science fiction and fashionable fantasy in the style of “sword and magic”. At the same time, Sergey Shcheglov writes quite unbanally, he has an unusual outlook on reality and has many exciting ideas and concepts.

To some, the works will seem uninteresting. Some of them are too stylized as fairy-tale Russia, they have a lot of patriotism on display, which is also perceived ambiguously. But, despite all the shortcomings, many still like them.

The influence of br. Strugatsky, but this is only a plus. Many domestic science fiction writers begin by imitating the masters and only benefit from this - a recognizable style, good literary devices, and language appear.

Fans of domestic modern science fiction are recommended to read. Perhaps Sergey Shcheglov will become the very author whose works you will reread, returning to them for a special ironic mood and light atmosphere.
