The drug "Nazivin": instructions for use

The drug “Nazivin”, produced in the form of nasal drops or a spray, the composition of which describes in detail the annotation attached to it, has a local decongestant effect on the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity. The active ingredient in this drug is oxymetazoline hydrochloride, which has the property of narrowing the blood vessels, thereby reducing swelling and restoring nasal breathing. In addition to this active component, it contains auxiliary substances that contribute to the safety of the drug "Nazivin".

The instruction for this drug contains a list of diseases in which its use is indicated. These include rhinitis of various nature, including allergic, as well as colds, nasal breathing in which is difficult. The use of "Nazivin" is shown for sinusitis, as well as for otitis media and eustachitis. It is available in the form of a spray and nasal drops with different contents of the active component - 0.01%, 0.025%, 0.05%.

The instructions attached to the drug "Nazivin" describe its use in patients of different ages. If there are indications, drops can even be used to treat newborns: this drug is the only vasoconstrictor that is approved for use in this age category. The dose in this case will be minimal: twice a day the child is instilled with one drop of 0.01% Nazivin in each nasal passage. For babies aged from one month to a year, two drops can be dripped if necessary. To a one-year-old child, until he reaches the age of six, a drug of a different concentration is already recommended - 0.025% Nazivin. The instruction prescribes to use it twice a day, one or two drops. Finally, for children over six years of age, as well as for adults, “Nazivin” 0.05% should be used - two drops, two to three times a day. At this age, it is already allowed to use the spray "Nazivin" (0.05%). The recommended single dose for adult patients is two to three injections, for children - one.

During the use of the drug "Nazivin" (the instruction warns about this), side effects are possible: a feeling of dryness, burning and itching in the nasal cavity, excessive excitability. Blood pressure may also increase, and with a strong overdose or an erroneous intake of nasal drops inside, the heart rhythm and breathing will be disturbed, nausea and vomiting will appear. In this case, specialists carry out symptomatic treatment. In order to avoid unpleasant consequences, the drug should be kept out of the reach of children and used only as directed by a doctor. In addition, the drug "Nazivin" it is undesirable to use hypertensive patients, as well as people suffering from tachycardia, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis and some other diseases. Pregnant women and nursing mothers can use this drug only under the supervision of a doctor and with his permission: Nazivin is prescribed to these categories of patients only in extreme cases.

It should also be understood that with prolonged use of vasoconstrictors, addiction to them occurs, and they cease to act. Those who too often and abundantly instill or inject “Nazivin” into the nasal cavity , the instructions for use of this drug warns: in this case, the mucous membrane atrophies and its functions are disrupted over time - the so-called atrophic rhinitis develops .
