Those who are used to eating properly, of course, are aware of the benefits of millet. Even doctors advise eating it more often. There are hundreds of different ways to cook this unusual cereal. And the simplest of them, but at the same time interesting - millet meatballs.
Sweet cutlets
Millet is considered one of the most ancient cultures. It is from this grain that, through special processing, the very groats are obtained from which millet meatballs are then made. The simplest version of this dish has been familiar to many since childhood. In Soviet times, it was quite popular in many preschool institutions. Millet meatballs can now be found in the menu of some catering points. To prepare them, you must have: a liter of milk, 340 grams of millet, a tablespoon of sugar, 0.5 cups of breadcrumbs, 10 grams of salt and 2-3 tablespoons of butter.
The whole process will take about an hour:
- First you need to boil milk in a pan.
- Then add salt, washed cereal, sugar and cook for 20 minutes.
- Put the pan with the finished porridge in the oven for half an hour.
- Once the product has cooled, it is necessary to form patties from it, roll them in breadcrumbs, and then fry on both sides.
You can serve millet chops with sour cream, butter or any sweet sauce.
Whip up dish
Sometimes there is a situation when you need to have something tasty to the table, and only yesterdayโs porridge is available. Do not despair and panic in advance. If it is prepared from millet, then we can assume that the situation is saved. You just need to attach a little imagination and ingenuity. In addition to porridge prepared on water in a ratio of 1: 2, you will additionally need: 1 fresh egg, salt, onion, 60 grams of flour, vegetable oil and breadcrumbs.
Cooking method:
- Cut the onion into small cubes, fry in oil, and then add to the cold porridge.
- Send the egg and flour there.
- From the resulting test, mold cutlets of any size.
- Sprinkle each billet abundantly with breadcrumbs and fry in a hot pan.
Such meatballs can be served as a full-fledged independent dish or used as a side dish for meat. In both cases, the positive effect will be guaranteed. The dish is sure to impress guests.
Interesting option
Every housewife has her own concept of good food. Therefore, starting to prepare millet chops, the recipe is selected in such a way that it fully corresponds to its taste. So, you can try to make a dish in which the following ingredients are present: a glass of water, 125 grams of millet, an egg, 70 grams of cheese, salt, 50 grams of crackers, sunflower oil and a bunch of dill.
The cooking sequence should be as follows:
- Boil groats in salted water.
- In the already cooled porridge, add chopped dill, chicken egg, grated cheese and knead a homogeneous dough.
- From the resulting mass, fashion blanks for cheese cakes and roll them well in breadcrumbs.
- Fry the semi-finished products in boiling oil.
Such meatballs are well suited as a nutritious breakfast or dinner. It is better to use them with kefir or yogurt. But the usual sour cream is also suitable. Prepared foods will be enough to properly feed a family of four.
Chops with vegetables
Sometimes, to improve the taste and nutrition, experts usually advise adding vegetables to cereal dishes. This method is well known and often used by nutritionists. Therefore, you can try to cook millet chops with carrots. The set of products in this case will change slightly: 200 grams of carrots and millet, 1 egg, 50 grams of sugar and butter, 70 grams of breadcrumbs and salt.
Progress of the process:
- First of all, you need to cook porridge. It should be a little sticky.
- First boil the carrots, peel, and then rub through a fine sieve.
- Combine all the components except the butter and prepare a plastic dough.
- To mold cutlets of the desired size from it, sprinkle them with breadcrumbs and fry in a pan.
Chips of orange color, with a golden brown crust, are very delicate and fragrant. As a rule, they are eaten with sour cream, but this is not necessary. They are good with any sauce and even without it.
