Lezgi Theater: history, repertoire, projects

The Lezgi Drama Theater has existed for more than a hundred years. His repertoire includes performances staged on national works.

Theater History

Lezgi Theater

The Lezgi Theater opened its doors in 1906. He began his career in a village called Ahty. The theater was founded by Idris Shamkhalov. Initially, it was an amateur drama circle. Actors were workers, exclusively men.

Soon the theater moved to Surukhan. The troupe played mainly in the Azerbaijani language. The repertoire included performances based on plays by playwrights of the republic.

During this period, the Lezgi Theater worked in Surukhan in autumn and winter, and performed in Akhtakh in summer and spring. The troupe now consisted not only of men, but also of women.

After Soviet power was established, the drama club received theater status.

In 1927, a building was built for him.

In 1935, the theater began to be called the Lezgin Drama. In 1938, he was given the name of S. Stalsky (Dagestan poet). In 1949, the troupe was transferred to Derbent.

Since 1997, this temple of art has a new name - the Lezghin Music and Drama Theater named after Suleiman Stalsky.

The team considers its main task to maintain friendship between different nations, to revive the culture of its people, to deepen their knowledge of their native language, and to study customs.

The director of the Lezgi Theater today is Alibeg Shidibegovich Musaev.

The troupe is actively collaborating with educational institutions. In addition to performances, artists show concerts, conduct conversations, conferences, festivals, lectures, meetings.

The repertoire of the theater is not too big. Almost all productions are based on the works of Dagestan authors.

The Lezgi Theater assembled on its stage a small but talented troupe.

The basis of it is experienced craftsmen:

  • Elmira Karakhanova.
  • Valery Suleymanov.
  • Farizat Zeynalova.

Elmira Karakhanova plays in almost all theater performances. She deeply takes root in her roles, she is sincere and accurate. Her characters are remembered for a long time by the viewer. She captivates the audience with her artistry and beautiful voice.

Valery Suleymanov is rightfully called the sovereign of the scene. He is particularly emotional, knows how to accurately find the character of the hero. V. Suleymanov perfectly succeeds in comedic roles. Many viewers call it "Lezgi Arkady Raikin."

Farizat Zeynalova has a pleasant voice, imagination, performing originality and the ability to create unforgettable images of her characters. In most performances, the actress plays the main roles. Thanks to her charm, even negative characters in her performance always cause only sympathy.

Projects

Lezgi Theater Director

Lezgi Theater is the organizer, as well as a participant in several projects. One of them is "Days of Dagestan culture in Azerbaijan." Such events are held annually. Their program includes concerts and theater performances. Azerbaijani spectators are always looking forward to seeing the Lezgi troupe.

Another festival is "Culture is the art of the world." It takes place in Derbent every year. The purpose of the festival is to increase the cultural level of the population and popularize art. His program is eventful. The festival annually gives viewers a lot of new impressions and discoveries. It includes performances of various theaters, concerts, exhibitions, opening and closing ceremonies.

The project “We Are Together Against Terror” is an action dedicated to the memory of those who died at the hands of terrorists. Her main goal is to express her indignation and contempt for the evil spirits called “terror”. Before the action begins, a minute of silence is announced in memory of the victims. After that, balloons are released into the sky as a symbol of a peaceful sky. The action urges everyone to ensure that the whole world today must unite in order to stop bloody madness together and shoulder to shoulder, and that it is necessary to educate the younger generation as peaceful and friendly.
