In 2017, the famous Soviet film "Girl without an Address" turns 60 years old. In connection with this solid anniversary, let's remember what this picture is about and what artists played in it.
The film "Girl without an Address" (1958)
This film became the second comedy work of the famous Soviet director Eldar Ryazanov. And although she could not achieve the success of âCarnival Nightâ, âGirl without an Addressâ was well received by the audience, and some phrases from her became winged.
It is worth noting that different sources put different years of the release of this film. To avoid confusion, it is important to know that in 1957 the âGirl from Addressâ was removed. However, it came out on wide screens only a year later - in 1958.
As in most of Ryazanovâs lyrical comedies , this one also has touching songs performed by heroes. Unfortunately, most of them have not gained much popularity. The only song that fell in love with the audience was âThe Girl Without an Addressâ (âWhat I grieve for, what I grieve for ...â). The main merit in this, without a doubt, is the performer of this composition - artist Nikolai Rybnikov, as well as the author of the text, Vladimir Lifshits and composer Anatoly Lepin.
The plot of the picture
As the name implies, in the center of all events is a girl. Her name is Katya Ivanova, she came to Moscow to become an artist.
On the way to the capital, the girl meets the charming builder Pasha Gusarov. Young people feel sympathy for each other, but due to a series of accidents upon arrival in Moscow they are lost.
Although Katya often recalls Paul, she is determined to prove to everyone that she will be a good judge. However, having an inexorable character and a desire for justice, the girl can not find her place in the society of liars and opportunists.
Meanwhile, Pasha leaves no hope of finding her fellow traveler. Using the address table, he makes a list of all Kat Ivanovs in the city and goes in search of. Because of them, the guy constantly gets into a variety of troubles.
In the final, Katya gives up on life in the capital and decides to go home. At the station, they accidentally meet with Pavel, he confesses his love to the girl and persuades her to stay in Moscow.
main characters
The main character of this story is Katya Ivanova. She is a hardworking and honest girl, ready to help her neighbor and not afraid to tell the truth. Katerina is very talented, but a little rustic. This immediacy and a certain naivety prevent her from lingering on any work for a long time. On the other hand, these qualities of character help the girl to find a faithful friend and loved one.
Pasha Gusarov is a cheerful, intelligent, hardworking and charming guy. Many girls like him, but before meeting with Katya, he did not fall in love with anyone. Feelings for Katerina make the hero overcome a lot of difficulties, and in the final, his perseverance is rewarded.
Mitya is Pashaâs best friend. It is he who is his faithful companion in search of Ivanova. And all this despite the fact that due to Pashaâs adventures, Mitya canât go on a date with the girl he liked Olya. However, such friendly devotion is rewarded. Closer to the final, Olga gets a job on the same construction site as Mitya, and young people put up.
Minor Characters
Secondary characters gave a particular charm to this picture. First of all, itâs Kateâs grandfather. This is a man of the old school, accustomed to meekly doing his job. Moreover, if he is hurt by the living, an old man wakes up an unprecedented courage and self-esteem.
The Komarinsky couple is an example of a family of bureaucrats, who today, unfortunately, are not uncommon. The husband works as a boss in an unnecessary office. Moreover, he does his work through the sleeves, and if possible, he takes off. This man is a liar and a coward with a penchant for alcoholism.
Komarinskyâs wife is a typical officialâs wife sitting on her husbandâs neck. She does not work, but she does nothing at home. Her whole day was full of worries about her own beauty and health, although everything shows that not all of this helps her much. Like her husband, she is cunning, arrogant, but cowardly.
Crane operator Klava - Pasha's former passion. She, in fact, is a good girl and itâs not her fault that the main character did not love her.
Member of the Art Council Elizaveta Timofeevna from the Fashion House. This is another type of boss. A peculiar female version of Ogurtsov from Carnival Night.
The film "Girl Without an Address" (1958): actors and roles
Having examined the plot and characters of this film, it is worthwhile to find out which artists starred in it.
The snub-nosed provincial beauty Katerina was played by Svetlana Karpinskaya. It is noteworthy that she is probably the only one of the actors in the film "Girl Without an Address" (1958) at the time of her work did not have an acting education.
Before participating in the film, Svetlana studied at the Faculty of Philology in Leningrad. After the success of the painting, the girl was transferred to the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema. Unfortunately, during her long career, she never again received the roles of the âGirls without an addressâ level.
By the way, in the film, another artist performs songs instead of her - Zoya Vinogradova.
The role of the Moscow Romeo was played by the artist insanely popular in those years - Nikolai Rybnikov. He gained all-Union fame years earlier when he played Sasha Savchenko in âSpring on Zarechnaya Streetâ. In the future, the artist played several more wonderful roles in such films as âGirlsâ, âTwo Livesâ, âHe Conquers the Skyâ and âWar and Peaceâ.
In addition to Rybnikov, among the actors of the film âGirl without an Addressâ (1958) there was another person known throughout the USSR. We are talking about Yuri Belov, who played Mitya. Together with Rybnikov, he previously starred in "Spring on Zarechnaya Street", however, in the role of a secondary character Ishchenko-Ishachenko. The fame of Yuri brought the role of Grisha in Carnival Night.
After The Girls Without an Address, Belov played several other significant heroes in The Undefeated and The Queen of the Gas Station.
The role of Mitya's friend, Olya, was played by Svetlana Tarasova (in the credits recorded under the name Svetlana Shcherbak). Unlike other actors in the film âGirl Without an Addressâ (1958), her career was not noted by anything remarkable in the future. The actress starred in 4 more films, but her characters were episodic.
Minor role performers
Having examined the actors âGirls without an addressâ who played the main characters, it is worth learning about the performers of episodic characters. And here Ryazanov managed to collect a whole bunch of talented artists.
First of all, it is worth noting Erast Garin, who played grandfather Katya. This talented artist over the years of work managed to create on the screen a whole gallery of unique images in such paintings as âCinderellaâ, âWitchâ, â12 Chairsâ, etc. He also voiced more than 40 cartoons (âThe Enchanted Boyâ, âWinnie the Poohâ, âThe Adventures of Pinocchioâ, âChipollinoâ).
The role of Masik, who wants vodka (aka Komarinsky), was played by Sergei Filippov (Carnival Night, 12 Chairs). To his wife, who uttered a phrase that became winged: âThis is Bohemian glass. It must not be touched. You can only pray for it! â, Played Zoya Fedorova (â Scarlet Sails â,â Wedding in the Robin â).
Other actors in the film âGirl Without an Addressâ (1958) include the unsurpassed Rina Zelenaya (Elizaveta Timofeevna) and Svetlana Kharitonova (Klava).
