Leg vein expansion: causes

The development of this disease is promoted by conditions under which the outflow of blood is complicated. Veins may experience, for example, pressure from a constantly growing uterus during pregnancy. This may be staying on one's feet in connection with the profession for a long time (sellers, cooks, waiters, drivers, hairdressers, etc.). Also, the expansion of the veins provokes other diseases, which determine their obstruction in the thigh or pelvis. Some innate features also predispose to it. First of all, these are insufficiently elastic weak venous walls and valves. Regardless of the reasons, the disease manifests itself always the same.

Leg vein expansion: symptoms

Translucent under the skin, and in advanced cases, the so-called varicose nodes swell. Due to malnutrition, the vein becomes thinner and easily damaged. As the disease develops, the skin pigments, that is, becomes covered with brown or dark brown spots. Over time, a violation of its nutrition can cause trophic ulcers. Often, with the expansion of veins, limbs swell by the end of the day. The legs quickly tire when walking, they feel heaviness and pain, which, if you stand too long, only intensify in the evening. Over time, the limbs begin to swell to such an extent that it becomes impossible to walk. Slowing blood flow in the veins, the changes they undergo, lead to grave consequences. First of all, this threatens the development of thrombophlebitis - an inflammatory process with the appearance of blockages.

Leg vein expansion: prevention

In order to prevent the disease or at least stop its development at an early stage, some measures need to be taken. To begin with, all factors that impede full blood circulation should be eliminated: excess weight, prolonged standing on legs or sitting. In this case, it is necessary to change position every hour and a half, walk, climb on toes. And for those who work while standing, such breaks should be taken even more often - every 45 minutes. Not the last role in preventing the onset and further development of the disease belongs to physiotherapy exercises.

Leg vein expansion: treatment

Traditional medicine suggests using certain medications in this case. And above all, these are plant-based ointments, tinctures. Their use must necessarily be accompanied by the intake of vitamins. At the earliest stage, folk remedies also help. But if vein expansion is very pronounced, surgery often remains the only method that can alleviate the patient's condition. After it, as a rule, it is recommended that you continue to dress the legs with an elastic bandage for up to six months. In advanced cases, sclerotherapy is also prescribed. It consists in the introduction of medicinal substances into the superficial veins, which first cause gluing of their walls, and then resorption.
