How to prepare tasty and healthy cherry jam for the winter

Bird cherry trees are unpretentious and do not need any special conditions and care. In addition, their fruits contain many vitamins (PP, E, C) and trace elements, amino acids and volatile, both fresh and in jam or jam. Bird cherry, whose beneficial properties have been known since ancient times, has a general strengthening and bactericidal effect on the body. In addition, it is able to improve the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, jam or berry jam will be so useful in the cold season, when our immunity needs additional support.

How to make cherry jam

For 1 kilogram of berries you will need:

  • 1.2 kg of granulated sugar;
  • a tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.

During this time, the fruits of bird cherry will give juice, it must be drained into a separate bowl. Now mix the contents of the basin, add freshly squeezed lemon juice and put on fire, bring to a boil and cook for a quarter hour. Do not forget to stir - cherry jam can burn. After add to the berries the juice collected earlier and cook another 15 minutes. Done - now you can spread the jam on sterilized jars, roll up the lids, cool, and then remove it to a dark place before winter.

It is possible to make a workpiece not from whole berries, but from wiped ones through a sieve. For 1 kg of bird cherry you will need:

  • glass of water;
  • 250-300 g of granulated sugar.

Sort the berries and rinse, then put in a saucepan. Add some water and cook until the bird cherry is soft. Puree the berry mass through a sieve, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Put the workpiece in jars, close the lids and sterilize in boiling water for twenty minutes. After cool and put in a cold place to be stored until winter.

In addition to jam, other preparations are also popular from berries, for example, compote. To prepare it, you will need:

  • 1 kilogram of ripe berries;
  • 300 g of granulated sugar;
  • 1.2 l of water.

Now bird cherry need to pour sugar syrup (boil the specified amount of water with sugar) and leave for 5-7 hours. After this, the berries must be removed from the container, filled with sterilized jars by about a quarter, and the syrup in which they languished, boil again, and then pour to the fruits. Done - now roll up the compote with lids, cool slightly and store in a dark place.
