Arabesques - a legendary group

With the advent in 1975 of a new musical direction of “disco” in Germany and a number of other countries, bands appeared that worked in this very popular direction. However, many of them did not last on the scene for six months. The situation was quite different for the rather well-known Arabesque team. The group was founded in 1977.

Trio creation

The producers V. Mevs, F. Farian and composer D. Frankfurter gave the name to their collective in honor of one dance figure - arabesque. It symbolizes beauty, creativity and sophistication. Since 1978, the ensemble with its incendiary and funny singles begins to actively storm the dance floors of Europe. The first line-up of Arabesque (the group consisted of three female vocalists) was performed by Karen Teperis, Michaela Rose and Mary Ann Nagel. The girls managed to record just one hit - “Hello, Mr. Monkey. " Then the team suffers several shifts of vocalists. As a result, in 1979, the former gymnast Jasmine Veter and Sandra Lauer, the future leader of the group, came to the trio.

In this composition, the ensemble lasted almost until the end of their career. However, the team was still far from huge popularity and recognition. The single “Friday Night” failed, they were hardly noticed at home, of the nine alleged albums, only five were released. The greatest achievement of Arabesque (the group has been working since the late seventies) was the song written in 1980 and ranked third on the German charts - Marigot bay. It should be noted that the outwardly vocalists of the trio - the blonde Jasmine, the dark-skinned girl Mikaela and Sandra, who has an “oriental” cut of eyes — surprisingly complemented each other, representing as if three elements. After the release of "Marigot bay" the team gains huge popularity in Asia and Japan. Here was recorded and released the first video for the song "Greatest hits", performed by the trio "Arabesques". The group annually gives several concerts in the Land of the Rising Sun, which are very popular. In the 1970-1980s, the team became popular in Argentina, South America, the USSR, France, Italy and the Scandinavian countries. Large volumes of records are released, more and more hits are created. However, in 1984, after the end of a five-year contract, Sandra decided to start a solo career. Since that time, "Arabesques" - a group whose photos are presented above, ceases to exist. The latest album was Time To Say Good Bye (1984). The duet, subsequently created by Michaela and Jasmine, broke up without becoming popular.

Songs of the Arabesque Band

Among the most famous hits are “Six Times a Day,” “In the Heat of a Night Disco,” “Cat City,” “Caballiero,” “Zanzibar,” “Don't Fall Away from Me.” In the USSR, Italy, Scandinavia, France, numerous records with singles of the group were released. The collective repertoire includes both simple dance and slow lyric compositions, and rock and roll oriented hits. Despite the simplicity and enthusiasm, the songs of this group are not distinguished by the primitiveness inherent in the work of many "girl bands" of that time.

Arabesques today

The team is touring now - as part of the new soloists and Michaela Rose. The trio performs well-known old singles at various retro concerts. Their songs, beloved by many since childhood, sound on the air of radio stations and programs on request.
