Balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky: pros and cons

Balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky was invented quite a long time ago, during the Soviet Union, by the famous surgeon Alexander Vasilyevich Vishnevsky. In his footsteps went both children and grandchildren, who also made a huge contribution to Soviet surgery and continued the work of Alexander Vasilyevich on the use of this ointment.

Vishnevsky's liniment consists of such main parts as xeroform, castor oil and birch tar. In combination, all these three components give an ointment, the smell of which is very specific. Due to the cheapness of the components, the balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky began to be widely produced, and soon its application flourished.

The main scope of the ointment is the fight against foci of decay. However, the balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky struggles with them very specifically, for which he managed to get a lot of complaints in the literature. Well, negative assessments also have the right to life, but it is worth noting that with the correct, competent use of the drug, it gives an excellent result.

Now a little about the mechanism of action. Tar and castor oil, which are contained in the ointment, have a local warming effect on the area where the balsamic liniment is applied according to Vishnevsky. And as everyone knows, when oxygen is limited (and oxygen is limited due to the thick consistency of the ointment) and heat, purulent bacteria multiply even faster than usual. It turns out that Vishnevsky's ointment, namely this name is most entrenched among the people, provokes purulent processes. And this is its main plus. Applying ointment to the boil, which contains the purulent rod and is about to begin to rot around the circumference, we thereby provoke early suppuration and breakthrough of the boil. Since boils are located in a space restricted to the skin, there is no reason to be afraid that the ointment will worsen the situation. On the contrary, a process that has already been launched will end sooner.

However, the balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky, the use of which is not limited only to the treatment of boils, should not be used with open wounds and where the process can affect healthy tissues. Doctors are also cautious about using liniment for burns. That is why you should not self-medicate and apply the ointment at your discretion. In order to know where you can use the ointment, consider a few examples.

Gynecologists, for example, advise using Vishnevsky ointment in the treatment of inflammation of the female genital organs. To do this, for a week a woman needs to put tampons with ointment in the vagina. After the end of the course of treatment, the inflammatory process is much reduced, the pain syndrome subsides.

Phlebologists recommend compresses for six hours if the patient suffers from thrombophlebitis or varicose veins. To do this, the legs are wrapped in a cotton bandage, flavored with Vishnevsky ointment.

ENT doctors prefer this remedy for sinusitis. If you make tampons with ointment, then sinusitis will break out faster.

The ointment for acne and acne - the causes of youth complexes regarding appearance, gives a wonderful effect. Do not wait for the blackheads to ripen, you can put a patch with ointment on them. In the morning after such a procedure, all the pus comes out, and after disinfection, the place of decay heals without scars.

Despite the fact that the balsamic liniment according to Vishnevsky is used less and less today, it is worth mentioning that for several decades all Soviet surgeons used this ointment, not being afraid to use it in abdominal surgery. Now is the era of new antibiotics, which are available in various dosage forms, however, Vishnevsky ointment still does not disappear from the shelves of our pharmacies and remains in demand in the medical environment.
