The drug "Glevo" is part of the group of so-called fluoroquinolones. These are antibacterial substances that have a pronounced antimicrobial activity and are characterized by a wide spectrum of action. The main active ingredient of this drug is levofloxacin. It is able to block DNA gyrase (an enzyme that can introduce negative supercoils into a closed DNA molecule), disrupt supercoiling and inhibit DNA synthesis, and also cause significant changes in the structure of microorganisms.
Diseases caused by bacteria and microorganisms that are sensitive to the drug "Glevo", the instructions for use are determined as indications for use. These can be diseases of the ENT organs (for example, acute sinusitis), kidneys and urinary tract (both complicated and uncomplicated infections, such as acute pyelonephritis), lower respiratory tract (community-acquired pneumonia, exacerbated chronic bronchitis).
Also, this drug is indicated for prostatitis and other infectious diseases of the genital organs, diseases of the soft tissues and skin (for example, an abscess, suppurating atheroma, furunculosis). In case of intra-abdominal (in other words, intra-abdominal) infections, the Glevo antibiotic is used in combination with drugs that act on the anaerobic microflora.
The medicine "Glevo" is available in the form of tablets of 250 and 500 mg. During administration, the drug is rapidly absorbed, and food intake almost does not affect the completeness and dissolution rate of the drug "Glevo". Instructions for use show that the antibiotic penetrates well into tissues and organs. During treatment, a small portion of the drug may oxidize. The medicine is excreted mainly by the kidneys.

For the musculoskeletal system during treatment with the drug "Glevo", the instructions for use describe the following negative effects - muscle weakness, arthralgia, myalgia, tendonitis (inflammation of the tendons), tendon rupture. Hypercreatininemia, acute renal failure, interstitial nephritis are side effects of the urinary system.
In the hematopoietic system, disorders such as hemolytic anemia, eosinophilia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, neutropenia, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia with the use of the antibiotic Glevo may appear. The instruction also indicates the possibility of allergic reactions, exacerbation of porphyria, the development of superinfection, the occurrence of persistent fever.
Among the contraindications are sensitivity to the components of the drug, epilepsy, pregnancy and lactation, age up to 18 children, tendon damage with earlier antibiotic treatment.
