Building

The Volkovsky Theater is located in a building built in 1909. The project by which it was built was created by architect N.A. Spirin. The facade and side walls of the building are decorated with sculptural compositions. There is a portico. On it is a sculpture of Apollo Kifared, who is the patron of the arts. Next to him are Melpomene and Thalia - the muses of tragedy and comedy. The opening of the new theater building took place in 1911. K.S. Stanislavsky himself on this occasion sent a telegram to the Volkov drama with congratulations and wishes.

The festival is also an exchange of talented individuals. Casting companies and theater representatives come here, thanks to which many participants receive invitations to work in the cinema and theater. The Volkovsky Theater also hosts the International Festival. His motto is “Russian dramaturgy in the languages ​​of the world”. Leading theater troupes of Russia and foreign countries take part in the festival.
