The fallen angel, the demon Azazel, appears in Jewish folklore as one of the powerful fallen angels who were not afraid of God's wrath. According to the Book of Enoch, mankind owes it to the art of warfare using weapons.
But the representatives of the fair sex, the demon Azazel taught to mislead others, including using cosmetic tricks. There are references to this character in the literature. So, the Akunin debut novel of the cycle about Erast Fandorin is called Azazel. The demon is mentioned here rather in a figurative sense, for the book is talking about some kind of secret society. It used ingenious people who possessed Knowledge (just like that, with a
capital letter) to undermine the Russian
political system. But Bulgakov for the "Master and Margarita" borrowed the name of this ancient "character", slightly modifying it. The demon of Mikhail Afanasevich is called Azazello. The creators of the series “Supernatural” thoroughly worked on the image of one of the main negative characters. The yellow-eyed demon is the main antagonist of the Winchester hunters in the first two seasons of the telesagi. And only at the beginning of the 4th season, the audience learns that the real name of this demon is Azazel. He had several human incarnations during the course of the action, but most often one thing - he was portrayed by actor Fredrik Lena.
In search of the enemy
The father of Dean and Sam is literally obsessed with the idea of finding this villain who was at the bed of the youngest son when the wife of John Mary died (who, as it turned out, just fell under a hot hand and was destroyed because of this as an unnecessary and disturbing witness). This infernal character plays a key role in the narrative, because it was the demon Azazel who prepared the long-term clever plan for rescuing Lucifer from the cell. He was looking for special children born on a certain day - it was such a grown-up child who was able to break the seals and start the Apocalypse mechanism. Finding these chosen ones, the demon performed a ritual over them, including watering with his own blood. This blood later became a kind of drug for Sam. But the power thus granted was also good: Samuel, with renewed vigor, destroyed all evil.
When retribution comes
Another point in which the demon Azazel was very active: saving Dean's life. When the brothers, finally reunited with their father, had a car accident at the end of the first season, Dean's life hung in the balance, he was already one foot in the grave. John sacrificed himself by making a deal with the yellow-eyed creature. So the family did not last long together, Winchester Sr. went to eternal torment to hell. But his son recovered. Retribution in the face of the brothers was on the heels of Azazel, because they passionately wanted to take revenge on the culprit of the death of mother and father. It was possible to destroy the creature only from a special Colt, which Dean did with success in the episode "Gates of Hell". Thus, the insidious and evil enemy Azazel found an end. “Supernatural”, however, did not end there - the brothers had a lot of work to do, because they opened a loophole through which even more terrible creatures penetrated the Earth.
