Influenza can be quite difficult. Antiviral agents are used to treat it, but in many cases it is not possible to avoid the addition of a secondary infection and the development of complications, such as meningitis, otitis media, pneumonia. In 2013, a domestic pharmaceutical company launched the Sovigripp vaccine, which is a worthy replacement for foreign drugs. It is actively used for free immunization of the Russian population. The vaccine contains the substances that make up the surface membrane of influenza viruses of different strains. The Saugripp vaccine changes annually in its composition depending on the types of flu that are predicted to spread next season. Basically, the disease develops due to the ingress of viruses A and B. But the causative agent of the disease constantly mutates, so there is a need to constantly change the composition of the vaccine, because it determines its effectiveness.
Composition, release form
Depending on the form in which the vaccine is produced, it may include the thiomersal component with ethyl mercury, which acts as a preservative. Vials with such a tool are used repeatedly, thanks to the preservative, fungal and bacterial contamination is eliminated. If the drug is used in bottles, each of which contains a separate dose of the vaccine, there is no preservative in the composition.
In the vaccine "Sovigripp" the composition is represented by the following components:
- hemagglutinin of type B influenza viruses and subtypes A, which include H3N2 and H1N1;
- phosphate buffered saline;
- preservative;
- Sovidon.
Phosphate-saline solution is created from potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium hydrogen phosphate and chloride, injection water. Thiomersal is added to the preservative vaccine solution.
Pharmacological properties
The main difference between vaccines and analogues is the presence of sovidone instead of polyoxidonium, it is used as an adjuvant and is an additive that enhances the body's immune response. Thanks to this substance, the following effects are achieved:
- cell membrane protection;
- antioxidant effect;
- the formation of immunity to the negative effects of influenza viruses;
- detoxification of toxins.
"Sovigripp" instructions for use can be used to form a high specific immunity against seasonal influenza pathogens. The product is intended for intramuscular administration.

When using Sovigripp (vaccine), the instruction recommends paying attention to all the features of this drug. There are some restrictions for pregnant women. During this period, vaccination is allowed only in 2-3 trimesters, and only in cases where the benefit exceeds the possible risk. There is no negative effect on the fetus. Women carrying a child are not at risk, but the consequences of influenza for them can be serious, so you should get a vaccine if you can.
Vaccination
Those who want to get vaccinated need to know what Sovigripp (vaccine) is. The instruction shows that immunization is carried out in early autumn. Thus, it turns out to prepare the body for a seasonal epidemic. The immune response occurs no more than two weeks after the administration of the drug. Sovigripp provides protection against influenza pathogens for a period of seven to nine months. Even if cases of the development of influenza have already become known, it still makes sense to get vaccinated. An anti-influenza agent does not give one-hundred-percent protection against the disease, but significantly reduces the likelihood of influenza (by 75-90%).
Vaccination is carried out annually by introducing a single dose of a solution of 0.5 ml. An intramuscular route is used to administer the vaccine. Vaccination is done in the shoulder (upper third). Before immunization, it is recommended that contacts with people with ARI be excluded. You also need to dress warmly so as not to get too cold. The same rules should be observed after the introduction of "Sovigripp". Reviews of doctors show that the vaccine can be wetted, experts recommend staying in the clinic for thirty minutes after vaccination. In the event that complications have arisen, paramedics will quickly provide the necessary assistance.

However, the likelihood of such an immunization result exists. The drug is highly purified, so it is usually well tolerated by the body. Sometimes some side effects may develop, most often systemic and local reactions appear, but they quickly disappear (within 1-2 days). Allergic reactions are very rare. Studies have shown that in 0.9-1% of cases, the injection site reddened in people, sometimes this area was slightly painful, subfebrile temperature was present, but the negative manifestations quickly disappeared. Adverse reactions to the vaccine include the appearance of:
- runny nose, sore throat;
