There are many films about the Cold War these days. Which of them most deserve the attention of a wide audience? “Spy, Get Out” (2011)
Opens our list of films about the Cold War, the magnificent film "Spy, Get Out" by the famous director Thomas Alfredson. The plot of the picture takes the viewer to the times when the most tense relations were observed between the two superpowers.
According to the events of the film, the government of the USSR decides to go on an offensive. However, the impending global catastrophe is averted thanks to the timely actions of British intelligence. An employee of the structure realizes that a Soviet spy is firmly seated in their ranks. The case is entrusted to an experienced retired agent, George Smiley. The latter should bring the "mole" to clean water in such a way that even the top management of the organization would not have guessed the investigation.
“How One Lieutenant Stopped the War” (2008)
A documentary film about the Cold War tells about the events that took place back in 1952. The population of the Soviet Union continued to rebuild the country after the global military confrontation. However, according to British intelligence, our compatriots had to puzzle themselves with completely different problems. Indeed, at the end of December, the territory of the country could turn into another United States training ground for testing nuclear weapons. The catastrophe was prevented thanks to the efforts of the Soviet engineer Vadim Matskevich and his invention.
"Farewell business"
In this film about the Cold War, the secrets of one of the most scandalous espionage stories of the last century are revealed. In the 80s, KGB officer Colonel Sergei Grigoryev, disappointed in the system, decided to start his own confrontation with the regime. Secret information transmitted to the West undermines the authority of the USSR government. However, American spies allow the elimination of Grigoriev, and there is real hype around the case.
The film is of interest for the reason that at one time the author of the picture Christian Karion was forbidden to engage in filming in Russia. The reason was the decision of our authorities, which to this day consider Grigoriev a real traitor and one of the worst representatives of the nation. As a result, the director had to shoot scenes in Ukraine and Finland.
The picture was not particularly successful at the box office. The audience expected to see the likeness of a typical action-packed action movie. However, the film was far from entertaining. The excessive realism of the tape and the oppressive atmosphere left the viewer with not the most pleasant experience. However, critics appreciated the talented disclosure of the psychology of the actors in the picture, which became much more important than the action.
The Spy Bridge (2015)
The plot of this film about the Cold War was based on real events that took place in the middle of the last century. The focus is on a lawyer named James Donovan. He graduated with legal practice a long time ago and enjoys a measured life. However, he was soon offered to take on a matter of national importance. James must defend the Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. As it turned out later, the task was destined to become the most difficult career in a lawyer. After all, the United States authorities decided to exchange Abel for the American intelligence officer Francis Powers. Moreover, the deal should not be carried out anywhere, but in the middle of a bridge in East Berlin.
The Cold War (2015)
Serial Dock. the film about the Cold War tells about the hottest moments in the confrontation between the USA and the USSR. The main threat to American citizens was the spread of communist ideology. The Soviet population was wary of the start of another armed confrontation. Who won the cold war? This is what the viewer has to learn about, having familiarized himself with the picture presented.
The False Temptation (2007)
False Temptation is a great action-thriller from the famous producer Francis Ford Coppola, as well as Robert De Niro, who took over the director’s chair. Central to the plot is the narrative of an American student Edward Wilson. Upon graduation, the young man receives a position in the US Strategic Services Department. After a while, Edward goes on a mission to Berlin. Here the guy is assigned a responsible mission, which makes him find himself in the center of a heated confrontation between Soviet and American spies.
The Red Dawn (1984)
"Red Dawn" is an unusual feature film about the cold war of the USSR against the USA. This is what makes him a rather original plot idea. According to the events of the picture, on a normal morning, a small town in Colorado is suddenly attacked by Soviet paratroopers. In a short period, the US is occupied. However, to prevent the insidious plans of the invaders decides a group of teenagers who are united in a partisan detachment called "Wolverines."
It is worth noting that this film about the Cold War at one time caused a considerable resonance in society. The picture was released in the midst of tensions between the Soviet and American authorities. The tape even fell under the ban on display in Western Germany. The reason was called the presence of an abundance of scenes of cruelty, as well as the primitiveness of the plot.
