A documentary film about the Cold War tells about the events that took place back in 1952. The population of the Soviet Union continued to rebuild the country after the global military confrontation. However, according to British intelligence, our compatriots had to puzzle themselves with completely different problems. Indeed, at the end of December, the territory of the country could turn into another United States training ground for testing nuclear weapons. The catastrophe was prevented thanks to the efforts of the Soviet engineer Vadim Matskevich and his invention.

The film is of interest for the reason that at one time the author of the picture Christian Karion was forbidden to engage in filming in Russia. The reason was the decision of our authorities, which to this day consider Grigoriev a real traitor and one of the worst representatives of the nation. As a result, the director had to shoot scenes in Ukraine and Finland.

The picture was not particularly successful at the box office. The audience expected to see the likeness of a typical action-packed action movie. However, the film was far from entertaining. The excessive realism of the tape and the oppressive atmosphere left the viewer with not the most pleasant experience. However, critics appreciated the talented disclosure of the psychology of the actors in the picture, which became much more important than the action.

After all, the United States authorities decided to exchange Abel for the American intelligence officer Francis Powers. Moreover, the deal should not be carried out anywhere, but in the middle of a bridge in East Berlin.
