As you know, the best way to tickle the nerves of the viewer is to make him afraid of the unknown and the unknown. The creators of horror films make the main emphasis on this, where the vengeful spirits of the dead are the main provocateur of fear.

Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that the horrors of ghosts are gaining popularity and are removed in any manner, and stories of cruel teenagers and crazy maniacs slowly fade into the background. This trend is well seen in the movie premieres of recent years: the appearance of Astral, Mom, Spells, and the next part of the Paranormal Appearance made many fans afraid to almost squeal with delight. But quantity rarely means quality, so really terrible horrors about the ghosts of 2010-2013 can be counted on the fingers of one hand. Inspired by the success, the creators of Astral rushed to whip up a sequel, the script of which is terrible in a bad sense. But the creators of the "Paranormal phenomenon", joyfully rubbing their hands, actually showed the same story from five different perspectives, while not forgetting about the quality.
We drown out with a crunch of popcorn we crack fake bones!
In social networks, you can often find requests in the spirit of “advise horrors about ghosts,” a list of which can be easily found on the Internet. However, a good half on this list are films of the 80s and 90s, when it was not yet possible to make such special effects as in modern cinema. But the plot there does not “sag”, and the timing does not make you yawn and sneak a glance at the clock. In terms of effects, the recent Spanish-Canadian film Mom is good. Evilly painted a bit clumsy, accompanying its appearance with disgusting sounds, it does such that when viewing it, one wants to climb onto the sofa with legs. What popcorn is here! But, startling from the harsh sounds and predictable “scarecrows” from around the corner, by the middle of the film I was already bored, and even it became funny. The thought crept into my head that today high-quality horrors - about ghosts or about maniacs - are simply worth their weight in gold. Maybe it's my acquired immunity after watching hundreds of films of this genre, but the trend in any case can hardly be called favorable.

And retake, and scared, and earned
Due to the unfortunate crisis of ideas, it has become very fashionable to make remakes of the horrors of ghosts and other universal evil of many years ago. A good example here is the film “The Evil Dead: The Black Book”, completely criticized by fans of the franchise. It is unclear why it is bad to shoot a good movie. The answer, however, begs itself - why? For box office, of course! True, unfamiliar with the original “Dead” viewers, the 2013 sample may be to your taste. Everything is there: blood, screams, a potentially good plot and charismatic evil. However, it’s difficult to name yet at least a little good modern cinema in the genre - atmospheric and qualitative horrors about ghosts die, and fans of the genre can only sigh sadly and wait for a new part of the “Paranormal phenomenon”. By the way, in The Fatal Label all the same evil ghosts will begin to terrorize new victims with special zeal.
