Larisa Valentinovna Krivtsova was born on the first day of January 1949 in Vilnius. Her father was a soldier, so the family repeatedly moved from one city to another. Finally, the Krivtsovs settled in Yaroslavl. Here Larisa went to school and began attending a theater club. The girl was very fond of participating in the performances, and in high school she decided to enter the local theater school.

However, strict parents considered the profession of the actress frivolous and persuaded her daughter to choose a more solid profession. Under their pressure, Krivtsova became a student of the philological faculty of the Yaroslavl Pedagogical Institute, which she graduated with honors in 1974. After that, the girl entered graduate school and began to prepare for a scientific career, however, she still had a craving for art.

The director of the student theater of the Pedagogical Institute was invited to teach at the Yaroslavl Theater School.
