Rock music has always occupied a special place in the domestic show business. More precisely, she was always opposed to him. Therefore, today they say more and more often that rock in Russia is slowly dying, and there is no worthy replacement for old rockers. Of course, playing underground is more difficult to find your viewer. But the Metro group was able to do this without changing itself and itself. Already today they are talked about as a new generation of rock music in Russia.
How it all began?
For the past 15 years, Alexander Staroverov has remained the founder and permanent leader of the group. A native of the Volga city of Saratov, at first he did not think about the professional activities of the musician. According to the instructions of his parents, he went to receive a “real” legal profession. All this time, he constantly took part in various musical events. By the end of training at the university, it became obvious that the music completely absorbed Alexander. So, in 2003, his permanent team appeared - the Metro group.
For almost 15 years of its existence, the composition of the rock band has changed more than once. Today it is Alexander Staroverov (vocals, guitar), Alexey Ulyankin (guitar), Artem Latukhin (bass guitar), Alan Aslamazov (keyboards), Artem Zemskov (drums). In addition, Ilya Doroshin (bass), Ilya Likhachev (keyboards), Pyotr Tikhonov (trumpet) sometimes join the guys at performances and tours.
A little bit about the composition
Of course, the face and voice of the team is Alexander Staroverov. But without his team, as he himself admits, it is unlikely he managed to achieve the desired success. So, co-author of many songs and arrangements is Alexey Latukhin. Cheerful and responsive, the guitarist of the group is the real soul of the company. He, like no other, manages to feel the mood of the public.
Another guitarist, Alexei Ulyankin, cannot imagine his life without a guitar. As he himself claims, he was born a musician. Already at the age of 8 he performed on stage and collected applause. What he does with the guitar and bass is fascinating. The rock band Metro without Alexei would have been completely different. The guitarist plays with pleasure for his listeners and constantly improves his skills.
But the real gain for the group was the appearance in the team of a professional. It is about Alan Aslamazov. He has been making music since he was 5 years old and always connected his future life only with it. Behind his studies at a music school and conservatory. He participated and toured with many successful groups, including many years working in the Stas Namin Theater .
And, of course, it’s hard to imagine the Metro band performing without a drummer. Artem Zemskov is the youngest member of the team (born in 1994). However, he is very ambitious and talented. Alex came from the small town of Balakovo, first to Saratov, and then to Moscow. He joined the group only in July 2015. During this time, he not only perfectly joined the team, but also enriched the repertoire of the group with his arrangements of old and new compositions.
Songs of the group "Metro"
The group, like many domestic groups, began its activities with high-quality cover versions of famous compositions. Today they play at corporate parties and other events where there are various programs with musical inclusions. Disco of the 80s, foreign and domestic hits of past years - there is no such genre that the musicians of this group could not afford.
In addition to cover versions, the Metro group has successfully toured with its own program. To date, the musicians have released 2 studio albums ("We Move Fast" in 2013 and "Colors" in 2015) and the third is being prepared. The song "Telephone" from the second album entered the rotation of many Russian radio stations and in the summer of 2015 sounded, as they say, from each iron.
In addition, the songs of Alexander Starover more than once became the soundtracks for films and series. The most famous are “Thin Ice” from the movie “Kisses Bridge” co-authored with A. Gorbunov and “Airplane” from the television movie “Caution, Entry is Allowed!”. For these and other works in 2015, Alexander Staroverov became the laureate of the "Film Song" competition.
Instead of a conclusion
Unfortunately, the Metro group gives concerts infrequently. Most of their performances are in clubs and other similar institutions. This is understandable. The team playing intellectual rock is unlikely to assemble stadiums. Their music is thought-provoking and requires thoughtfulness. Those who were at their performances unconditionally become their fans. Not for nothing that the Metro team, since 2013, has constantly become the winner of the Success of the Year Award.
