In search of an answer to the question: "What dish to cook for dinner?" once received a response from her family: "Potato and chicken casserole!" I liked the idea, especially since soups and cereals are already fed up with the order. I wanted something original and tasty. So, we will cook.
In order to make a delicious casserole of potatoes with chicken for dinner, it is important that all products are fresh. For cooking, we need 500 grams of chicken fillet, half a kilogram of young potatoes, two large onions, 100 ml of cream, two large tablespoons of mayonnaise, salt, herbs and a little black pepper. First, cut the chicken fillet with oblong cubes or just cubes, as you like. Then lay the chicken on the bottom of the mold, salt and a little pepper. Combine mayonnaise and cream, whisk a little with a whisk and pour chicken with this mixture. We leave a little of this creamy sauce to water the potatoes. Next, peel the onion, cut in half rings, spread on the chicken fillet. Wash the potatoes, peel them, cut them into rings and gently spread them on the meat. Then pour over the remaining creamy sauce, salt and send to the oven to bake for 40 minutes. By the way, 5 minutes before readiness, you can sprinkle the casserole with cheese, you get a cheese crust. Sprinkle the finished dish with herbs and serve for dinner. It should be noted that chicken can be replaced by any other: pork, beef, rabbit, or even fish. I even cooked with ham, because there was no meat in the refrigerator, it turned out very tasty. But nevertheless the casserole of potatoes with chicken turned out to be tastier, although they ate everything to the crumbs with ham.
I want to offer another interesting option - chicken casserole with mushrooms. I tried to cook. It turned out amazingly! And a lot of time does not go into cooking. We need 400 grams of chicken, 200 grams of mushrooms (as usual I take mushrooms, because other mushrooms are hard to find fresh), 1 large potato, half a glass of cream, medium-sized onions, salt and greens. Finely chop the chicken fillet and fry with chopped mushrooms. Then finely chop the onion, put it into the meat, salt, mix and fry a little. Next, put it all in a mold, rub the potatoes on top, level the surface and slightly compact. Pour all the cream, sprinkle with herbs and bake in the oven until golden brown. The taste of this casserole is so mushroom and aromatic.
And if there is no meat at all, a potato casserole with cheese will save, whose recipes can be easily found. But I usually cook according to my proven recipe. So, to prepare this simple casserole, we need 5 large potatoes, 200 grams of cheese, 1 egg, 100 grams of cream (I take 12% cream), a spoonful of mayonnaise, salt, herbs. We wash the potatoes, peel and cut into small cubes. The smaller the cube, the better the casserole is baked.
Preparing the fill. Beat the egg, cream, mayonnaise, salt and finely chopped greens with a mixer until smooth. Put the potatoes in a baking dish, fill with cream filling. We put in the oven to bake. When a golden crust forms on top, remove the casserole and sprinkle abundantly with grated cheese. I use table or Dutch cheese, although any hard cheese is fine. Again, send to the oven to bake for 10 minutes. Serve the finished casserole hot, otherwise the cheese will harden.
Oven casseroles can be prepared from any product found in your refrigerator. I was surprised when my husband prepared a potato casserole with fish and carrots.
