In the article, we consider the side effects of Omnic. It is a drug that is effectively used to treat urinary dysfunction provoked by benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The main active ingredient in Omnik is tamsulosin. Each medicinal unit contains 400 micrograms of active substance. The auxiliary components are: red and yellow iron oxides, gelatin, methacrylic acid copolymer, indigotine, calcium stearate, talc polysorbate, triacetin, titanium dioxide, sodium lauryl sulfate, microcrystalline cellulose.
Pharmacological forms
"Omnic" has a capsule shape. The drug is characterized by a modified release of the active ingredient. Packed in packages of 10, 30, 100 capsules.
According to its pharmacological group, Omnic refers to alpha-adrenolytic drugs.
Pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics
Tamsulosin is a drug that can block postsynaptic alpha-1-adrenergic receptors, which are found in the smooth muscle structures that form the prostate gland, the prostatic urethra, and the neck of the bladder in men. As a result of blocking alpha-1-adrenergic receptors with tamsulosin, muscle tone of the prostate, urinary organ, and prostatic section in the urethra decreases. As a result, urination improves. Along with this, there is a weakening of the symptoms of filling and emptying of the bladder with prostate adenoma, due to increased muscle tone of these organs and detrusor hyperactivity.
Due to the high selectivity of tamsulosin, its use does not cause a clinically significant decrease in systemic blood pressure not only in patients with normal blood pressure, but also in people suffering from arterial hypertension. Thus, Omnic can be used in the treatment of hypertension.
The absorption of tamsulosin occurs in the intestine, the bioavailability of the substance reaches 100%. A combined meal causes a slight slowdown in the absorption process. An equivalent degree of absorption is observed if the patient takes tamsulosin daily after breakfast.
Tamsulosin is characterized by linear kinetics. The use of a single dose allows you to get the maximum concentration of a substance in the blood after 6 hours. Equilibrium concentration is observed on the fifth day of daily oral use. The substance binds to plasma proteins by approximately 99%.
Metabolic transformations the active substance passes in the liver, as a result less active metabolites are secreted. Most of the dose taken is concentrated in the blood plasma, and in an unchanged form.
Clinical studies suggest that tamsulosin is able to slightly induce the activity of microsomal liver enzymes.
Unchanged tamsulosin and its metabolites are excreted mainly by the kidneys. The half-elimination period reaches 10 hours with a single application, 13 hours - with repeated use.
With moderate renal pathologies, dose adjustment of the drug is not required. In severe renal pathology, caution should be exercised when using Omnic.
Indications for use
The main indication for use is the treatment of dysuric disorders that develop with prostate adenoma. Therefore, it cannot be said that the medication is used directly from prostatitis. "Omnic" is a drug used for certain complications of the disease.
Does the drug have contraindications?
Contraindications
The tool is not allowed to be used if the patient has such physiological or pathological conditions as:
- Orthostatic hypotension, including a history of information about it.
- Severe forms of hepatic dysfunction.
- Individual hypersensitivity of the patient to the main active or any auxiliary component of the drug.
Contraindications "Omnic" must be taken into account before prescribing a medication.
It is important to exercise caution when using it in the treatment of patients with severe forms of renal pathology.
Side effects of Omnic
Against the background of therapy using this drug in patients, the development of the following negative symptoms may be noted:
- The phenomena of hypersensitivity: angioedema, skin itching, rash.
- Diarrhea.
- Headache.
- Palpitations, tachycardia.
- Constipation.
- Asthenia.
- Vomiting, nausea.
- Orthostatic hypotension.
- Dizziness.
- Retrograde ejaculation.
If any of these side effects of Omnik occur, you should stop using the medication and consult a specialist for advice.
Drug use
It is necessary to use a medication orally after breakfast. The capsule should be washed down with water in an amount of 100-200 ml. It is recommended to take one capsule of the medicine once a day. In accordance with the manufacturer's annotation, the chewing of capsules is prohibited, since as a result of this action there is an increase in the rate of release of the active substance.
The duration of the Omnik application depends on the stage of the course of the disease, clinical studies and the individual characteristics of the patient.
Overdose
There are no clinically recorded cases of acute intoxication with tamsulosin. Theoretically, the use of high doses of the drug can provoke a rapid drop in blood pressure, the development of compensatory type tachycardia, which require symptomatic treatment. Blood pressure and heart rate of a patient can come to a normal level if it occupies a horizontal position. If this method is ineffective, if the side effects of Omnic have developed, it is allowed to use medications that can increase the volume of circulating blood. If necessary, the patient is prescribed drugs that narrow the blood vessels. During therapy, it is necessary to monitor the functionality of the kidneys. Experts question the effectiveness of hemodialysis, since tamsulosin binds strongly to plasma proteins. It will be advisable to clean the gastrointestinal tract (washing, taking laxatives) and the use of enterosorbents.
How long to take Omnic, the doctor should tell.
Interaction with other medicines
The combination with Enalapril, Nifedipine, Atenolol does not lead to any pronounced interactions.
Parallel administration with “Cimetidine” causes a slight increase in the concentration of tamsulosin in the blood, with “Furosemide” - a decrease in this indicator. Such combinations of drugs do not require dose adjustment of Omnic, since the concentration of the active substance in the blood plasma remains within the therapeutic norm.
"Simvastatin", "Glibenclamide", "Diclofenac", "Amitriptyline", "Chlormadinon", "Trichloromethiazide", "Propranolol", "Diazepam", "Warfarin" do not affect the free fractions of the active substance "Omnic" in blood plasma. Tamsulosin, in turn, is not able to disrupt the free fractions of Diazepam, Trichloromethiazide, Propranolol, and Chlormadinone.
Interactions of tamsulosin with Finasteride, Glibenclamide, Salbutamol, Amitriptyline at the level of hepatic metabolism have not been identified.
Simultaneous use with "Diclofenac", "Warfarin" helps to increase the excretion rate of the active substance "Omnic".
Concurrent administration with other alpha-1 adrenoreceptor blockers can lead to a decrease in blood pressure.
Consider the compatibility of Omnik and alcohol.
With the simultaneous use of alcohol during therapy, unpleasant symptoms may occur. These include fainting, hypertensive crisis, tachycardia. The body is dehydrated, with an excessive dose, even death can occur.
So the compatibility of Omnik and alcohol is completely absent.
Special instructions for use
During therapy, a decrease in blood pressure is sometimes observed, which can provoke the occurrence of a fainting condition. If the primary signs of orthostatic hypotension (dizziness, general weakness) are detected, the patient needs to sit down or lie down, staying in this position until the negative symptoms disappear.
Surgical interventions on the visual organs relating to cataracts when using tamsulosin can provoke intraoperative instability of the iris. This should be considered by surgeons in order to properly prepare the patient for surgery.
Before starting treatment with Omnic, the patient is recommended to be examined to exclude the presence of pathologies, the symptoms of which are identical to the manifestations of prostate adenoma.
Before starting therapy, as well as throughout its duration, the patient should undergo a rectal digital examination regularly, if necessary, take blood samples to determine a specific type of prostatic antigen.
This is confirmed by the instructions for use. The price of Omnik and reviews about the drug will be discussed below.
Analogs
If necessary, the Omnic can be replaced by one of its analogues. The most popular remedies are Urorek, Setegis, Kornam, Alfirum. “Dalfuzin”, “Dalfaz”, “Alfater”, “Vesomni”, “Avodart”, “Alfuzosin”.
The cost of similar drugs varies widely, depending on many factors - the active component in the composition, its mass fraction, the number of dosage units in the package, and the manufacturer.
There are also many synonyms for the drug - Urofrin, Focusin, Tamsulon-FS, Omniprost, Revocarin, Omsulozin, Omnik Okas, Tamzelin, Taniz-K, Bazetam , "Sonizin", "Tamsulosin", "Alfatam", "Proflosin", "Adenorm."
"Focusin" and "Omnic"
Fokusin is a complete synonym for Omnic. It contains the same active component in the same mass fraction. In addition, Fokusin, similar to Omnic, is produced by the manufacturer in capsule form. That is, the drugs are completely interchangeable. When choosing a treatment tool, you should rely on the cost of the drug (Fokusin costs about a third cheaper), on the availability of medicine in a pharmacy.
Omnic and Omnic Okas
These drugs are interchangeable. Their main difference is in different dosage forms: the first is available in the form of capsules, the second - tablets. In addition, Omnic Okas is characterized by a controlled release of tamsulosin. That is, when it is used in the blood, a more constant and stable concentration of the active substance is observed. The absence of changes in tamsulosin concentration, among other things, leads to the fact that negative manifestations develop much less frequently. Therefore, many patients and doctors consider Omnic Okas a safer and more effective medication, contributing to a more rapid therapeutic effect.
Cost
On average, one package of the drug, containing 10 capsules, costs 350 rubles. A pack containing 30 capsules costs about 750 rubles. A pack of 100 capsules costs about 2500 rubles.
It is worth noting that in different pharmacies the cost of the medicine may vary. It depends on the pricing policy of the trading company, the region where the medication is distributed.
Reviews
About 70% of medical and user reviews regarding the effectiveness of the drug when used in strict accordance with the indications and rules of administration are positive. Most urologists recommend the use of Omnic for prostatitis, prostate adenoma, and other painful conditions that are accompanied by impaired urination. The relaxing effect of the active component, which is part of the drug, on the smooth muscle structures of the prostate effectively helps to eliminate the negative symptoms of pathology.
There are also negative feedback about the experience of using Omnik. They are usually associated with the development of side symptoms. The most significant negative manifestations are retrograde ejaculation and hypotension. In addition, you should not forget that in the treatment of prostate adenoma, the use of Omnic has a symptomatic load, aimed at stopping dysuric manifestations. Full-fledged therapy of this pathology involves an integrated approach, which consists in taking specific medications recommended in such cases.
