The Moscow Operetta Theater has existed since the first half of the twentieth century. It is located in the very center of the capital. Next to it are the Bolshoi and Maly theaters. The building, which houses the Moscow Operetta, was built in the nineteenth century and is an architectural monument.
About the theater
The Moscow Operetta Theater was founded by Grigory Yaron, a world-famous actor and director. Its building is unique in its appearance. The auditorium is designed for 1600 seats. The whole world is famous for its decoration. This is a ceiling painted by Russian artist Konstantin Korovin. The Moscow Operetta Theater is very popular not only among Russians; the whole of Europe knows and loves it, because bright, talented actors and directors serve here. The repertoire includes both classical operetta and modern genres. In one season, the troupe plays more than three hundred performances. The Moscow Operetta has for many years retained the status of one of the leading theaters in Russia. Famous actors, musicians, directors, artists, choreographers who are famous all over the world worked on the stage of the theater: Lilia Amarfiy, Mstislav Rostropovich, Tatyana Shmyga, Nikolai Erdman, Sergey Alimpiev, Jozsef Svoboda, Vladimir Kandelaki, Valery Levental, Tatyana Sanina and others.

Artists such as T. Dolnikova, I. Balalaev, E. Guseva, A. Shilovskaya, A. Ragulin, S. Lee, A. Marakulin and others are employed in the musical “Count Orlov”. The production takes place in the theater in blocks - two weeks a month. The plot is based on the tragic love story of Count Orlov and the beautiful Elizabeth Tarakanova.
The musical "Monte Cristo" was staged according to all the famous plot of A. Dumas. The performance involved I. Balalaev, V. Lanskaya, L. Rulla, V. Dybsky, A. Postolenko, A. Marakulin, A. Golubev. This musical has not left the scene for more than six years.

In operettas, according to viewers, no less talented artists sing than in musicals. Interesting costumes and scenery have been created for all productions. There are also such reviews, where viewers speak out negatively about new readings of classical operettas, for example, Silva and Bat. Most art lovers do not like modernized versions. They consider similar new readings in which classical performances are supplemented with “flat jokes and dubious mise-en-scenes”, poor taste of poor quality. According to the public, such performances are saved only by performers who brilliantly sing their parts.
