Modern domestic television does not often pamper viewers with the latest news in the world of television shows, while today they have become a full-fledged replacement for high-quality cinema. Therefore, the First Channel, based on ratings, blogs and polls from viewers, presented the ambitious project “City dudes”, showing viewers the most sensational and conceptual novelties of world shows.
Project idea
The project “City dudes” was invented for a young, active and advanced audience, residents of large cities who practically do not watch TV, but mostly download new items of high-quality foreign TV shows and films on the Web. Therefore, the program included the most notable premieres - documentary and feature films and the best shows. Moreover, more emphasis was placed on the show, that is, on the series, as this is the format that is most popular with the viewer today.
The format was conceived as a night, so it went on air at 23:40 and lasted until two in the morning. Originally it was a summer project, and then it became year-round. TV shows were shown on weekdays in the summer, and on the night of Friday to Saturday, documentaries were broadcast in the City Dudes project. The list of series and films was originally supplemented by broadcast from the studio. After the show, the facilitators discussed the recently viewed feed. At first, the leaders were Katya Gordon and designer Denis Simachev, and later actress Alisa Grebenshchikova, editor Igor Shulinsky, model Elena Kuletskaya, and film critic Anton Dolin visited this role . However, soon they refused the presenters and showed only films and series on the air of the project “City Dudes” of the First Channel.

In 2008, the channel showed only 3 series, but what! This is a comedy show in the style of a moquimentary "Office" with Steve Carell in the title role. The series tells about the life of a small office of a large company and how colleagues with different quirks, complexes and habits coexist in it. In the project "City dudes" the list of series was further continued by "Absolute Power". This is also a comedy series about PR managers from Britain who advise very famous and popular people. In the two seasons of the show, many stars of British show business and sports appeared, but most of the characters are not familiar to the Russian audience.
Also, the channel in 2008 showed the Russian audience the series, which became a cult and restored its former popularity to David Duchovny - Californication. In the Russian translation, he is better known as “Lascivious California”, but in “City dudes” he appeared under the name “Caliphrenia”. The series tells the story of writer Hank Moody. Despite the fact that he is constantly depressed, alcoholic or drug intoxicated or indulges in lascivious adventures with women, Hank evokes sympathy and interest. The whole thing and charm Dukhovny, and in ironic dialogues, and in the romance of the protagonist. Despite all his adventures, he dearly loves his ex-wife and daughter.
2009 season
The following year, Channel 1 significantly expanded the program “City Slickers”. The list of TV shows is rich in comedy projects - these are the Secretaries about four charming office workers who like to chat about men, and Massovka, a British show about extras with guest stars - Robert De Niro, Kate Winslet, Ben Stiller.
Also worth noting is the series “Lie to Me,” which has become a hit. He talks about specialists who find out if a person is lying by his gestures, facial expressions and behavior. The main role of the living lie detector was played by Tim Roth. The series was released for 3 seasons and was closed in 2011. The best first season showed the audience the channel "City dudes" on the First.
The list of TV shows included the Dirty Wet Money detective, the fantastic Life on Mars, and the series about the five-star Hotel Babylon Hotel, as well as a collection of the best Pixar cartoons.
2010 season
This season, the project continued to show new seasons of Caliphrenia, Babylon Hotel and added new hits. One of them - the already cult Sherlock - is a modern adaptation of the story of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson with Benedict Cumberbatch in the title role.
Also in the program was added the comedy sitcom “American Family” and a show about the origin of the gambling business in Atlantic City during the Prohibition of the Underground Empire prohibition.
2011 season
This year, in the project “City Slickers”, the list of TV shows began to include not only shows, but also recordings of concerts of world stars. Among the series, the project received several unique in popularity projects. Among them is the detective serial film "Murder" with the unique oppressive atmosphere of the ever-rainy Seattle. The channel also showed the legal drama Force Majeure and the detective series White Collars.
The program also featured a beautiful historical costume series “Borgia” of Canadian-Irish production, as well as a stylish and measured film “Mad Men” about American advertisers of the 60s, led by the mysterious and charismatic Don Draper. In addition, Caliphrenia and the Underground Empire continued to show new seasons in the City Dudes project.

This season, the most famous was the political thriller “House of Cards” - a series in which Kevin Spacey, Robin Wright and Rooney Mara played. Unfortunately, it closed after the Spacey fireplace-out scandal, but its first season, directed by David Fincher and shown on Channel One, was kindly received by critics and viewers.
You can note the British detective "Murder on the Beach" with David Tennat in the title role, the historical series "Vikings" and "Body Investigation" about an outstanding surgeon who began to investigate the crime.
2014 season
This year was not so diverse. Only two premieres were prepared by Channel 1 in the project “City Dudes”.
The list of series this season includes The Great Train Robbery and Fargo. The latter was highly anticipated by fans of the original Coen Brothers film and did not disappoint them. Black comedy with Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman received Emmy as the best television series of the year.
2015 season
This year was marked by the launch and screening of the first season of the American detective series How to Avoid Punishment for Murder, starring Viola Davis. He talks about the mysterious professor Annalizing Kitting and her students.
Also, in the framework of the project “City dudes”, the list of series was supplemented by “Aquarius” with D. Duchovny about the history of Charles Manson and the French fantastic project “Call of Sorrow”.
2016 season
In 2016, the project showed the French mystical series Witnesses, which tells about the triple murder of a man, woman and teenager who were not a family, they were killed at different times.
Solving this crime, shrouded in mysteries, lies with the unbalanced detective Sandra Winkler.
