Absolutely all people on Earth have had a headache at least once. Some suffer from headaches quite often, but few attach great importance to this. In fact, the head, like any organ of the human body, cannot hurt just like that. Sometimes this can be a symptom of quite serious illnesses. What can be the causes of headaches? Scientists have identified four main signs by which the head often hurts.
The first of these is organic damage to different parts of the brain. Among them are traumatic brain injury, and various tumors in the brain, and inflammation of the meninges, that is, the presence of diseases such as meningitis, meningoencephalitis, and others.
Also, the reason that the head hurts very often can be disorders of the vessels in the brain, which can be caused by disorders such as arterial hypertension, migraine and others.
With great stress, unrest or overstrain, headaches can also occur.
But the basis for them can be not only ailments associated with brain diseases. The reason that the head often hurts, there are various types of intoxication in both viral and bacterial infections. Pain in the head can also be caused by drugs, such as caffeine, nitroglycerin, oral contraceptives, and others. Chemicals - alcohol, carbon monoxide, lead, and the like - can also trigger headaches that often hurt.
The causes can be metabolic disorders of the body (dialysis, hypoxia) and diseases of various parts of the face (sinusitis, frontal sinusitis, glaucoma), and even osteochondrosis.
Some people are very weather sensitive, that is, any changes in weather conditions negatively affect their condition, and, in particular, cause severe headaches.
We have listed the main factors of what causes headaches. But there are many more. A reliable cause of headaches can only be found out by a qualified doctor who will not only make a diagnosis, but also prescribe the right treatment.
It is worth noting that each person with different diseases, the painful symptom is different.
If you often have a headache, this means that there may be problems associated with blood pressure, atherosclerosis, osteochondrosis, eye and tooth diseases, and migraines.
If you suffer from paroxysmal symptoms, it can be hypertensive crises or other disorders associated with the functioning of blood vessels. Or such pains are provoked by various kinds of tumors of the adrenal medulla.
If your headache is accompanied by nausea or even vomiting, it can be increased intracranial pressure, brain hemorrhages, tumors, migraines or pheochromocytoma.
If the head hurts at a certain time of the day, for example, only at night or, conversely, only in the morning, pay attention to intracranial pressure, since such a condition can be caused by hypertension.
When a headache hurts locally, on one side, and does not spread, you most likely have migraines or hypertension. Such pain can be accompanied by visual impairment (photophobia, "flies").
If you often have a headache, what should I do? Firstly, try to avoid various pungent odors, temperature and sound changes, changes in tastes. Try to sleep and rest well, avoid unrest and great physical stress. It is also worth abandoning too spicy, salty or sour dishes. Smoked meats, canned food, red wine, chocolate and instant foods should also be excluded. Lead a measured and healthy lifestyle. If all of the above for some time does not help, be sure to consult a doctor.
