- Dick, the head of the family, a professor of physics at a local university (is it worth mentioning that he knows everything about physics?). He is the commander in chief of the entire expedition.
- Sally is a former security lieutenant, a man who got the look of a spectacular blonde, sister of the head of the family.
- Harry is also an officer in charge of communications with the help of whom the aliens report on the passage of the expedition to the ruler of his planet - the Big Giant Head.
- Tommy - the oldest on his home planet and the youngest on Earth - a teenager with all the ensuing consequences.
Passing through small difficulties, so familiar to earthlings, but incomprehensible and frightening to aliens, the four heroes manage to build relationships, learn to feel, and gradually they themselves become people. Every evening, sitting on the roof of the house and peering into the starry sky, they discuss what it is to be a man?
