The introduction of a new feeding, a drug, a new mixture or even just breast milk - these are the main causes of allergies to the skin of the baby, which causes so much trouble. In other words, this is diathesis in a child - the tendency of the body to certain allergic reactions, which is hereditary. This is not a disease and cannot be treated like a common cold. Perhaps this is because diathesis has several causes:
- improper nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding;
- hereditary predisposition;
- environmental factors;
- toxicosis of the mother in the first trimester of pregnancy;
- A new type of feeding, which was introduced to the baby.
Most pediatricians consider malnutrition as the main factor in the emergence of such a diagnosis as diathesis in a child (especially up to a year). This is not surprising, because the enzymes necessary in order to assimilate food fully mature in a baby by only 9 months, and complementary foods begin much earlier. Let's get acquainted with three products that are more likely to cause diathesis in a child.
Cow's milk
Sometimes for one reason or another, the baby is on artificial feeding. But very many mixtures are created on the basis of cow's milk protein , which can cause a strong allergic reaction in the baby. The fact is that cow's milk contains special proteins: alpha and beta-lactoglobulins and casein, which can contribute to the development of severe diathesis. In this case, you need to consult a pediatrician and a pediatric allergist, who will pick up your baby a new type of mixture. Usually, the food that caused the allergy changes to another mixture, which is based on goat's milk protein.
A fish
Fish can also cause diathesis. When cooking it, M-antigen is released, an allergen that can provoke not only a rash in various parts of the body, but also the appearance of edema and diarrhea. But usually the signs of an allergy to fish begin to appear already with food, so mom can stop feeding as soon as she sees disturbing symptoms.
Eggs
A large number of young children may be allergic to eggs. For a long time, pediatricians mistakenly believed that eggs should be introduced into complementary foods as late as possible. However, several years ago, scientists conducted an experiment and found that in children who tried eggs at the age of one year, diathesis occurs much more often than in those who got acquainted with this type of food at 6 months. Therefore, now pediatricians advise giving the baby hard-boiled eggs no later than six months.
But any manifestations of allergic reactions of the child’s body cannot be called one word “diathesis” - this would be a too generalized diagnosis. Therefore, diathesis is divided into 3 types.
1. Exudative-catarrhal diathesis - occurs due to pathology of the skin or mucous membranes. The doctor can determine it as early as 6 months. If diathesis occurs in infants, treatment is prescribed only by a specialist.
2. Lymphatic-hypoplastic diathesis - is directly dependent on the work of the thymus gland, which is responsible for the entire immune system. An immunologist-allergist doctor will conduct an ultrasound scan of the gland for the baby and give appropriate recommendations.
3. Neuro-arthritic diathesis - occurs due to metabolic disorders. The most unexplored form of diathesis, the consequences of which, however, can be corrected.
So the answer to the question is ready: "Diathesis in a child, what should I do?" Try to observe the daily routine with the baby, take frequent walks, exercises, feed your child, based on his age. After all, diathesis can provoke premature introduction of complementary foods. And it is better if you are just waiting for the baby to monitor what you eat during pregnancy. After all, the disease is much easier to prevent than to fight it later.
