The fantastic thriller drama "Left" is based on a whole series of books by Tim LaHey and Jerry B. Jenkins, who were the first after the closed screening to call him the best of the Ascension films. It’s hard enough to disagree with this authoritative statement, but it’s worth clarifying: the Ascension films are extremely small, and the few that are are simple and straightforward, like a Baptist sermon. Against the background of the above-mentioned paintings, the film "Left", reviews of which are extremely contradictory, looks like an intriguing multifaceted canvas.
Intrigue without a secret
To keep the intrigue of the picture in the strictest confidence does not make any sense, since it is revealed almost from the very first scene, where one of the religious fanatics harasses the reporter (Chad Michael Murray) at the airport with sermons. The film "Left", the plot of which stands slightly apart from the established laws of film dramaturgy, is saturated with a moralizing tone of narration and intrusive didacticism. It has no right to doubt, all the heroes are strictly divided into three categories: “blessed believers”, “real sinners” (marauders, murderers, robbers) and “lost souls” who will eventually find the path to heavenly grace. This is how the film “Left behind” turned out to be directed by the director Vick Armstrong. Reviews of film critics about the work as a whole are sustained in a neutral, less enthusiastic way, even despite the shortcomings of the art plan, limited budget and musical accompaniment, which frankly disappoints in the climax.

One of the main characters, Chloe, returns from college to her native land, on the same day her father Rayford leaves for a flight to London (he is an air pilot). But as soon as the plane gained altitude, strange things began to happen: the co-pilot, several passengers, including all the children, seemed to dissolve in the air. The same phenomenon is happening all over the world, and while Rayford is trying to calm panicky passengers and regain control of the damaged plane, Chloe, stunned by the fact that her younger brother also disappeared, flees home. And Ray has a hard time, the plane gets a hole, fuel leaks, nowhere to land. It seems that all absolutely air traffic controllers were avid righteous and ascended in the forefront, so there is no connection with the land. On the other hand, the film "Left" is still a disaster, and the director manages at certain times to comply with the canons of the genre. It was rather difficult for Vick Armstrong, because the script of the picture is based on real biblical prophecies, it was necessary to contrive in order to explain to the viewer ignorant of religious issues the meaning, and most importantly - the essence of what is happening.
Not a film adaptation
It is difficult to name the film adaptation of the film “Left” (reviews of viewers of high moral and religious evidence). The storyline of the series of novels begins with the events at which the film ends, so the most fascinating and interesting in the picture is missing. If the viewer tries to find sacred reasoning about the Kingdom of Heaven, religion and basic biblical postulates, he still needs to read the original before viewing.

There are no special complaints about directing, although Armstrong cannot be called an experienced representative of this profession. The camera work of Jack N. Green is commendable. Famous actors - the languid handsome Nicolas Cage and the charming Martin Klebba - played great, but this does not mean that the secondary characters were embarrassed, on the contrary, they also created colorful characters and played quite reliably. Chad Michael Murray, Cassie Thompson are pleasantly surprised, and cute Nikki Whelan would have worked for category A films.
