The human psyche is very complex and little studied. Despite numerous studies, as well as new drugs, no one can guarantee a positive result in the treatment of mental disorders. What is Haloperidol?

Instructions for use of the drug classifies it as a neuroleptic. The composition of the drug includes a complex synthetic substance, briefly referred to as haloperidol. It is able to act on a number of receptors in the brain, blocking or decreasing the production of certain hormones. As a result, the medicine has the following properties:

  • antipsychotic,
  • sedatives
  • antipsychotic
  • antiemetic.

Release form "Haloperidol": tablets and solution (powder). The powder for solution preparation is amorphous, rarely finely crystalline, white or yellowish. Tablets are produced in various concentrations of 20, 5 and 10 mg. The release of the drug is allowed only if the patient is given a prescription of an established sample. Most often, Haloperidol Ratiopharm is used in practice. However, doctors also use its analogues.

Indications Haloperidol

Instructions for use may not be the only document for prescribing a medicine. The doctor will need to examine the patient and write out a prescription only if the following diagnoses are established:

  • psychosis, both in acute and in chronic forms,
  • teak,
  • schizophrenia,
  • violation of normal behavior in the elderly and children,
  • manic pathologies,
  • other psychomotor excitations, including chronic alcoholism,
  • hallucinations
  • paranoid phenomena
  • rave,
  • psychosomatic pathologies,
  • prolonged hiccups or gagging.

The use of "Haloperidol" is possible only if there is a clear need for an established diagnosis and can lead to a number of side effects.

Contraindications Haloperidol

Instructions for use should be supplemented with information on contraindications for taking the drug. These include:

  • depression,
  • coma and central nervous system depression due to drug treatment,
  • epilepsy,
  • extrapyramidal and pyramidal states,
  • children's age up to three years,
  • lactation,
  • CCC diseases
  • bearing the fetus.

Incompetent use, as well as the use of the drug under the supervision of medical personnel, can provoke the occurrence of side effects. So, among the side effects of Haloperidol, the instructions for use call:

  • neuromuscular dystonia,
  • psychomotor anxiety
  • extrapyramidal disorders,
  • CNS depression
  • vomiting and nausea
  • disruption of the liver,

  • etc.

Therefore, the use of the drug should be agreed with the doctor. The patient or his guardians and curators should understand that the use of a drug of this type is an extreme measure and is justified only with an accurate confirmed diagnosis. Special care should be taken in the treatment of children and elderly patients. Uncontrolled intake of the drug can lead to irreversible consequences for the psyche.
